Why is it Gay guys TERRIFIED of fighting?

Why is it Gay guys think a simple fight is an end-of-the-world catastrophic event? A traumatic fight to the death?

Listen up: MOST FIGHTS ARE OVER IN 10-30 SECONDS. That is because one guy usually knows what he is doing and either intimidates or subdues the other.

Is not hard to defend yourself. Even if you get roughed up a little how can anyone live in a world where they just lay down and let random people attack them all the time, anywhere?! What kind of self-loathing mindset is that?! What kind of messed up bizzaro world is that?!

Pocket Knife.
Mace.
Pepper spray.
CELL PHONE VIDEO.

Where do Gays get the idea they can't lift a finger to protect themselves? Women fearing rape are better protected than you precious Urban Gays. STOP expecting everyone else to step in and do your job.

IF YOU WON'T EVEN FIGHT FOR YOURSELVES, FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, WHY SHOULD ANYONE ELSE?!

Gay men are unable to stand up to bullies. Have any Gay men bothered to ask themselves why? Does it bother any Gay men they keep getting attacked and killed?!

As a man I'm embarrassed.

WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO FIGHT FOR OUR SAFETY?

There are plenty of times people do fight off attackers, but whether the victim is gay or not is irrelevant. A violent assault is a crime, and police should always investigate.

In a recent trial in Boston, a man was convicted of attacking a girl and her two gay friends on the street. He was the only one caught of a group of thugs involved. One victim wound up hospitalized, despite fighting back. The girl got the car license number, and the convict had dropped his cell phone at the scene, so the police traced him easily. He refused to cooperate with the police in identifying the other perpetrators. But the judge sentenced the convict to parole and anger management, with no jail time, a ridiculously light sentence for the severity of the crime.

Using a pocket knife or other lethal weapon could wind up getting you in real trouble. You can't use deadly force to stop an assault, unless it truly is a matter of life and death. You have to use the minimum force necessary to stop an assailant, or you become guilty of a crime yourself. The police have to do their job and investigate every incident of violence, regardless of whether the victim was able to fight back or not, regardless of sexual orientation. I could not disagree more with what you say about cops, though I do agree it is good to defend yourself if you can.

Such a thing could never happen to you because you're too tough, too smart or both. Blaming the victim is a common way to avoid the fact that victims of gay bashings are often further victimized by the police. If the victims had responded with physical violence, they could have easily been accused of ganging up on the man and charged as the attackers. Just last year a lesbian who defended herself against her attackers was charged and sentenced to eighteen months in jail, simply because she fought back. Five years ago a friend in Honolulu was followed as he left a gay bar by two men, dragged into a parking structure and stomped nearly to death - they broke several teeth, three ribs, one of which punctured his lung and crushed his eye socket. - He flagged down a cop who had him sit on the curb, refused to call an ambulance and peppered him with questions like "what do you expect out here at 4 am?". The cop then left my friend to drive himself to the hospital where he spent three weeks, underwent two reconstructive surgeries, then spent three months in bed at home. The police were called to the hospital, but the report was never assigned for investigation. A lot of cops aren't helpful to victims of gay bashings.

If the hate crime was perpertrated against a Black, there would be a huge public outcry. Please don't blame the victim, ever. The NYPD response is a sad refelection on Bloomberg and New York.

"A Black" would have fought back.

Do you think all black people can fight? Not everyone is able to beat the hell out of other people.

Victims of gay bashings who fight back are often charged as the attackers. You assume that all cops are just as helpful to gay victims as they are to straight ones. On the contrary, the police often further victimize gay men and women who have been attacked.

I'm still laughing about the "NJ plates" excuse. Somehow NJ plates haven't presented the NYPD with any problems in writing me parking tickets and getting my personal contact info.

HOW "SELF-LOATHING" IS IT to expect everyone else to risk their own safety for YOU, protecting and defending YOU, fighting all your fights for YOU? While you do NOTHING at all?

HOW "SELF-LOATHING" IS IT to insist upon and indulge your Urban Gay Fantasy? To live in crime-ridden cities, under constant threat of physical attack, surrounded by those who hate and resent you? Without even ANY interest in developing ANY skills to fight back and defend yourselves? Without even acknowledging this danger?! Talk about a glaring case of cognitive dissonance.

HOW "SELF-LOATHING" IS IT to expect cops to be YOUR personal security crew despite their record of indifference?

ENOUGH OF THIS URBAN GAY FANTASY.

GROW UP.

Time for the truth: if you act Gay, walk Gay, talk Gay GREAT. More power to you. BUT YOU ARE A TARGET. YOU BETTER LEARN TO FIGHT GAY.

Talk about your classic blame-the-victim argument. "If your weren't a woman you never would have gotten yourself r*a*p*e*d."

Typical - blame the victim. Unfortunately, a lot of cops hate gays as much as you.

STOP PRETENDING GAY MEN ARE HELPLESS.

There were THREE YOUNG, SMART, SOBER, FIT, ABLE BODIED Gay guys NONE of whom were drunk, high or in wheelchairs, NONE of whom were in any way prevented from fighting back. Their "attacker" was one DRUNK guy with impaired consciousness and reflexes. AND THEY STILL LET HIM BEAT THEM AND INTIMIDATE THEM.

One of The Gays could have called the cops while the other two or three restrained the drunk until the police arrived. RESTRAINING AN ATTACKER IS A MEANS OF SELF-DEFENSE. TO RESTRAIN AN ATTACKER YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO FIGHT. YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO SUBDUE AN OPPONENT WITH LITTLE OR NO SERIOUS INJURY. Not very hard to do. Especially if it's one old drunk guy.

How many Gay guys who go out in groups actually make an action plan like that? How many even care to?

It is lazy, arrogant and self-entitled (not to mention self-loathing) to live in a large dangerous city where anti-Gay hate crimes occur on a demonstrably regular basis WITHOUT any means of self-defense.

I'm tired of Gays who are so deluded by PC crap they feel ENTITLED TO PITY AND PROTECTION FROM OTHERS. No one ever got their full civil rights by feeling self-entitled. They had to fight.

STOP PRETENDING GAY MEN ARE HELPLESS.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:10 PM on 09/29/2009

Wait...so it's entitled to expect that police officers are going to protect us from criminals? It's entit;ed to not expect to get beaten up?

This is "blame the victim" to new extremes.

What are you gonna do between the time you call the cops and the time the cops actually arrive?! Do you expect your attacker to sit and wait patiently for the police to come protect you?!

It is self-entitled to live in New York City, especially as a Gay man, and go through life expecting you will never be attacked or the victim of a crime AND if so you don't have to defend yourself because the cops are your own personal bodyguards and on-call security force.

It is NOT betraying the Gay community to say Gay men are unable to stand up to bullies.

Victims of gay bashings who fight back are commonly charged as the instigators by the police, even when witnesses are on hand to confirm they were the victims.

The NYPD ignores everyone. They are small, lazy and take apathy to new levels. There is a reason people have no faith in our cops. They are an abomination.
