Yes it is, but it should serve as a wake up call to everyone that voter apathy or ignorance of the issues is what has brought many of us to this point.
40+ years of neo-classical supply side economics seem to have had a disasterous toll throughout the mid-west and rust belt states.
The picture included in the article of the shanty with broken down cars should be mounted on roadside billboards across the nation with a caption that reads:
"THIS IS TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS IN ACTION"
I didn't vote for him, but Ross Perot was right when he said NAFTA was going to destroy our manufacturing base, or what was left of it at that point. Adding insult to injury Bill Clinton also passed the GATT treaty which only exacerbated the effect.
It is however unfair just to blame Clinton. He could have vetoed the treaties sent to him by a Republican Congress, but he lacked the intestinal fortitude to do so.
This job loss has been going on in earnest since Regan wholeheartedly started to implement and adhere to the theories and practices of Milton Friedman and the Chicago School of Economics.
