Fort Collins Coloradoan:

An Iowa woman accused of embezzling $5.9 million from her employer gave, along with her spouse, more than $30,000 to Northern Colorado Democratic congressional candidates in the past four years.

Phyllis Stevens of Des Moines was arrested by FBI agents in Las Vegas on Friday on federal wire fraud and money laundering charges. Her former employer also has filed a lawsuit against Stevens and her spouse, Marla, seeking to recover money she allegedly stole.
