Let's be 100% honest here. What do you think her real measurements are? The photos taken just last week in that checkered dress indicate that her hips are about 20% larger than the Prevention magazine photo.
Even the thinnest girl has curves in a checkered dress.
Mrs O looks fantastic, but this cover looks pretty photoshopped, to me and to one of my daughters who does this for a living
Celebrity First Lady. It's all about the First Lady and how she wears what makes her happy and does not care what anyone thinks and encourages us to do the same. I have heard this before and expect to continue to hear this throughout the next 3 years, possibly 7. But at least she looks good in her dress.
Yes, how dare she have self-esteem and confidence. How dare she not be cowed into submission by low-rent keyboard fashionistas over 60, whose only taste is located in their mouths.
Such insolence!
I'm sure your other IDS/cheerleaders will be sure to jump in with the usual--petty, immature, childish, craves attention, blah, blah, blah....
Dang, you got her. Play on, playette...
I got pretty tired of hearing about Jacqueline Kennedy, whom I happened to think was a bit of a Plain Jane. Yet everyone was raving about her sophistication etc etc ad nauseam. So, please don't try to deprive Michelle of her time in the sun....
She looks Amazing !!
The dress looks great on Michelle.
She is absolutely beautiful in this dress and in everything she wears.
I guess I posted too soon. I'm waiting to see what the critical PoliticalAmazon says about this outfit.
That's hysterical. She is so predictable.
I'll be buy a copy.
I want to see the length of her dress before I comment. She has a terrible habit of wearing too many so-tightly fitted dresses and skirts.
The color looks good on her.
Wow...someone must have put something in t iessa's drink tonight. For once I agree with her on something related to the FLOTUS.
Liz: You're held up as a fashion icon, and the media pays so much attention to your curves and your arms. Has it affected your body image?
Mrs. Obama: No, not really--but I thank God I'm 45 in this and not 35. I feel bad for young women going through the same thing, because [at that age] you don't know who you are. I know what makes me happy. I pick the clothes that make me happy--sometimes people like them, sometimes they don't. I try to listen to my own internal guide. My message to women: Do what makes you feel good, because there'll always be someone who thinks you should do it differently. Whether your choices are hits or misses, at least they're your own.

My favorite part of the article!
Liz: President Obama looks at you as if you're the most beautiful woman on the planet. Do you feel that?
Mrs. Obama: One of the things that attracted me to Barack was his emotional honesty. Right off the bat he said what he felt. There are no games with him--he is who he appears to be. I feel fortunate as a woman to have a husband who loves me and shows me in every way. So yes, I do know that. And now he'll know I know.
I saw this dress on the runway model and it looked like a kid in her mothers clothes, but after seeing on Mrs. Obama all I can say is va va vom.
Bravo Michelle
You're right: http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/F2009RTW/JASONWU/RUNWAY/00050m.jpg
Very true! I wonder why designers and models vehemently cling to the idea that clothes "hang" better on stick-thin/anorexic models? The dress looks infinitely better on a very toned and healthy Mrs. Obama. And contrary to popular belief, she doesn't need salad bowl-like breast implants to make the dress look good either.
Oh - might I add that the FLOTUS' radiant smile is much better than the model's surly expression. No wonder people don't care about the fashion industry - their standards of beauty are really messed up.
First Lady Michelle looks great as usual!
