Colorado Counties Reject Department Of Human Services' Recommendation To Increase State Control

DENVER (AP)- Colorado counties say they will fight any attempt by the state to take over social services following the deaths of several children.

The Colorado Department of Human Services included the recommendation in a report Thursday to Gov. Bill Ritter from a task force investigating deaths in the child welfare system.

If the counties are not adequately prepared enough to save a childs life, then the state should definitely be able to intervene and turn the situation around. Counties may think thats not fair, but it doesnt matter, what matters is preventing children from dying. Counties should work together with their state to make this happen.
