What's Your Reaction?

First Lady Michelle Obama is campaigning for the Chicago Olympics in Copenhagen this week (see photos of her first day threads), and we hope that she wins some time to meet with Denmark's stylish sovereign Princess Mary. After all, the native Australian has some good Olympic luck: Mary Elizabeth Donaldson met her future husband, Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik, at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. They married four years later. Mary always manages to look graceful and modish with her well-tailored wardrobe. Check out this great Dane's style:

Adoring people just because they are rich... how nice... people are starving and you love to glorify those who marry someone at the top of the pyramid thanks to supression of the little folks on the bottom. Kings, Queens, Princesses, Princes, Dukes..etc.. all that is a symbol of how people were oppressed and used to create wealthy.for another group who give THEMSELVES tittles and pass it on to their children and those they marry.

I like what the Princess is wearing. She has managed to still look chic and mature without appearing to be dowdy. It is a good look for her. Very fresh and very clean.

The Danish Royal expenditures are published and it is a fact that the overrun was due to the restoration of their living quarters, plumbing and the like, in the palace...it has nothing to do with Mary's clothing. She has a fantastic ability to mix-up her wardrobe so that it looks different and fresh every time she steps out for her many solo events.

I've been a fan of Princess Mary eversince she hit the spotlight as a royal bride. However, it had been untastefully reported (which means it really happened) for two consecutive years already (am not sure of the frequency) that Princess Mary and Prince Frederik's family finances are way over budget. That's still people's money they are spending and always asking for more every year. Because of this everything that Princess Mary has "on" has been personally viewed with a doubtful thought of overpriced. There are many royal women who manages to look good without blowing taxpayers' money.

That sea foam gown looks just like my 1990's Prom dress.

:)

I like the golden dress on MO. It is a good color for her. No complaints.

Princess Mary is nearly perfect. She is just the total package. Golly, even her feet look perfect.

I disagree with the trip. It looks bad and feels bad. Our unemployed is growing, albeit slower, but still over 50 percent of the people have used up all their unemployment. The worse part is many of those jobs will never come back. That chapter is closed.

Make sure George Bush knows all about this O.K. Bye the way, find out how much Laura spent on China, her designer clothes and a great face lift, just before they left the White House and then disagree with that. Then shut your shop down.

She is not Denmark's "sovereign"; Queen Margrethe II is.

Princess Mary loves her Christian Louboutins!

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:12 PM on 10/02/2009

No, she won't. She'll be a queen consort, not a sovereign queen as her mother-in-law. But again, considering how little interest her husband has toward being a king, maybe Mary will be the sovereign queen behind the scene.

No. 10 and 11 are great fun; love that red hat...and the grey dresss is beautiful and unusual.

What I do appreciate is the bit of drama and theater in some of the outfits.

Her style is far better than Michelle Obama. This is how you represent. That golden dress Mrs. Obama wore was a HOT MESS. What is it with the Wilma Flintstone jewelry? Good grief....

So you would have the First Lady dress as royalty? She would be raked over the coals for her snooty look and your comments would be even bitchier. Stop being so nasty.

It's not dressing like royalty. It's dressing appropriately for representing a country. It's not a snooty look, it's a classy look.

i think she dresses with dignity. some of her clothes are conservitive but then it is a different culture and she dresses for the people, not herself.

LOL! How exactly does one "dress for the people"? Does she take a poll every day to see which dress she should wear?

Pema, wouldn't you be more comfortable on a site in a language you understand? Time and again you prove you can't handle it here!

Complaining incoherently on TV about your in-laws and calling yourself the "people's princess" isn't very classy, I wouldn't have thought.

And also, cheating on your wife with a close friend's wife isn't very classy either. Granted, the cheating was occurring on both sides.

Princess Diana was a big fraud worshipped by the American public because she was pretty. As long as you are pretty you can get away with almost anything. Her husband stepped out on her which was wrong but was she any better? But she looked good in her clothes and the world especially Americans gave her pass. She had style, no class.

The difference between MO and these first ladies around the world is; MO is consious that the country is in a recession and a lot of people have fallen on hard times, therefore she would not want to dress too flashy or expensive looking , she is being considerate. Those first ladies don't care, they say they are the Head of States' wifes and they will dress to fit that position. Remember Emelia Marcus anyone?

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:08 PM on 10/01/2009

Possibly you mean Ismelda Marcos?? Possibly you don't realize that President is Head of State?

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:33 PM on 10/01/2009

Sasha, i really dont agree with you. but you seem to think that MO can do no wrong, so im not even going to go there with you over that one.

i dont think you can even compare mary of demark to th marcos woman - she was a gaudy pi g.

i give it to you - MO is a shining star, a strong black woman, an educated darling - she's perfect. there do you feel better?

not everyone has to agree with you.

Yes, it's very considerate. She could have spilled some soup on the $500 shoes that she bought with her own money.
