Chris Matthews On Jay Leno: Does Bill Clinton Impression, Talks Glenn Beck, Jon Stewart (VIDEO)

Chris Matthews appeared on "The Jay Leno Show" for its "Ten @ Ten" segment, where he revealed his past as a singing waiter, said he wouldn't appear on the "Glenn Beck" show, recited the Declaration of Independence, and showed off his impression of Bill Clinton.

His ten answers below:

1. The oddest job he ever had was as a singing waiter at Father's Mustache in Somers Point, NJ. He was fired because he didn't clap right.
2. Asked if he's ever seen a ghost, Matthews replied: "Yeah, Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton. These guys, you think they're dead and they keep coming back!"
3. The last concert he went to was U2 Tuesday night in Washington.
4. The last movie to make him laugh was "The Hangover."
5. One political show he will not appear on is Fox News' "Glenn Beck."
6. One guest who was so upset by his "Hardball" appearance that he never came back was Georgia Senator Zell Miller. Miller challenged Matthews to a duel while in New York for the 2004 Republican National Convention.
7. Matthews is able to recite the Declaration of Independence in 15 seconds.
8. He can do a mean impression of Bill Clinton.
9. His biggest junk-food weakness is Starbucks apple fritters.
10. Jon Stewart gave him his worst review of his career.

My favorite Matthews impression is when he impersonates a journalist. They're very brief performances, usually lost between talking over his guests and chuckling at his own puerile "jokes", but you should catch one when it sneaks through.

What a shame for a guy with the background and experience to know better. Certainly took him long enough to come around on Iraq and see through Junior's "new clothes".

I have a question for Chis Matthews, but I'll never get to ask it because he ALWAYS interrupts. OK... not every time. Actually when Matthews is at his best is when he shuts the f*&% up. Check out his interview with that insane Congresswoman from Minnesota. Awesome job there Chris. One of the best interviews ever and he said very little.

You mean Michelle Bachmann? He's one of the few that took her to task for her idiotic paranoid delusions... That was classic. I love Chris (even though he's like a wonk with ADD) at least he interrupts for a reason - not like the rethugs who just interrupt for the sake of drowning out the other person... The only thing I don't like is his or MSNBC's willingness to keep giving Uncle Pat time on his show... Pat Buchanan totally went off the rail a long time ago and shouldn't be allowed to continue spewing bigotry.

No comparison! Chris has an amazing amount of political knowledge to back up everything he's saying - he's one of the few that actually calls out the GOP when they decide to make cr@p up about the constitution and the legal system...
Norah's fine as a broadcaster, but she's more similar to the commentators on Entertainment Tonight than a political wonk like Chris... You sound like the guys who drool over Mika on Morning Joe - when she just sits there smiling and getting her cute little quips and Starbucks references in... I like Norah much more than Mika - but they'd have a lot of problems if they didn't have cards to read --sorry... I'd much prefer people be true professionals like Rachel Maddow, than just there to fill time and smile and give the rethugs more chances to spew untruths during their "balanced" segments...
