I worked an Irish Festival near Trenton, NJ over the weekend, where two unrelated things were going on. One was a family selling bracelets to raise money for their toddler son, who has a terminal disease, and can't get treatment, because the only treatment is "experimental" and therefore is not covered by their health insurance. According to the announcement, all kinds of solutions had been unsuccessfully offered to them, including that the parents divorce, I guess so that one of them could be declared indigent.
The second was a petition being circulated by...get this...the Archdiocese of Trenton, to be submitted to the NJ State Legislature, urging them to "preserve the definition of marriage". How the Catholic Church circulating a petition at a public event, trying to influence political opinion is not a violation of separation of church and state, I haven't figured out. Maybe one of you can tell me.
But I can't help wonder...which is a greater threat to traditional marriage and family? Some gay couple down the street getting married...or a broken health care system which forces happily married couples to divorce or minor children to emancipate from loving parents as the only way to get life-saving treatment?

Christie is a great example of someone who had it in the bag, but essentially messed it up because he is unlikeable. Given the severe unpopularity of Republicans in general right now, I don't know who it is that has advised this guy to double down on the hardcore conservative nonsense which has never been popular in NJ in the first place. There was so much disapproval of Corzine by so many different folk and interests. All Christie had to do was make himself likable and the job was essentially his. Instead, he goes on pro-life rants, gets impolite with an elderly woman regarding mammograms, and now states he's for repressing citizens based on their sexual preferences. It's like he wants to tank this thing.
speaking only on behalf of myself.......
As a gay guy, I would not want this dude to represent me.
Just look at him! ..............He eats way too many potato chips everyday!
Why is this stupid issue such an issue? It's a free country. Let gay people marry and move on to the more pertinent subjects such as putting people to work, building a strong economy, and creating a system in which sick people can afford to get help.
All these nonsense issues make me want to be a canadian.
Speaks for itself.

All voters in New Jersey who are gay or who have gay people in their families should take note and vote for Corzine.
Duh, now why am I not surprised at this? He is so far from what I support he is literally falling off the side of the world. He is SUCH a Republican!
Well as far as Christie Critter is concerned, he's safe, I wouldn't marry him if my gay self depended on it!
Bwahahahaha!
