Edwards Divorce

Elizabeth Edwards is planning to divorce her husband John, according to the National Enquirer.

Elizabeth Edwards has finally had enough - she's threatened to divorce her cheating husband John and claim her share of their $53 million fortune! [...]

Furious at his betrayals, Elizabeth - still battling Stage 4 breast cancer - has vowed to destroy her husband of 32 years by disclosing everything she knows about his political career in divorce court, insiders say.

The Enquirer was the first publication to report that John Edwards had had an affair. The tabloid has also continued to allege that the child of his mistress, Rielle Hunter, is his. In an upcoming book, the Edwards aide who claimed that he was the father of the baby is expected to recant and reveal new details about his old boss' affair. The New York Times reported recently that, according to associates, Edwards "is considering declaring that he is the father of Ms. Hunter's 19-month-old daughter."

Ok. If elizabeth wanted to be "left along" she would not have written a book which re-hashes the death of her son (come on, how many times do we need to capitalize on this sad loss?) or discusses the affair. Nor would she have gone on Oprah and Nightline and Lord knows how many zillions of talk shows to discuss the whole mess. Yeah, she may have had a contract to write a second book, but it did not stipulate that the book air her dirty laundry. She could have written about any NUMBER of topics, including healthcare which is ostensibly her big cause. BUT NO. She did not choose to write about topics which could really HELP someone else. So, leave her along? Anyone who puts themselves and their personal life, including her husband's d--k problems, exposes themselves (no pun intended) to public scrutiny and comment. If she were really interested in protecting the family, keeping her sanity, and staying out of the tabloids they both so roundly condemn, she would have kept herself to herself.

Everyone has a limit and for most people, the limit with Edwards would have been reached looooong ago. It's always sad when a marriage ends but Elizabeth finally has to accept that John Edwards loves John Edwards and no one else, certainly not her or their children. I hope she takes him for everything and keeps him away from her children.

Yes it does. And the heel feels it most when he looks into the eyes of his disappointed children. This will absolutely affect his children for the rest of their lives - especially once they lose their mother.

Oh, please, HP. Stop this precipitous slide into more and more trash. PLEASE. Now you're citing National Enquirer stories about a pair wherein neither holds elected or appointed office.

Please, PLEASE look at how much lurid trash you're trafficking in these days.

HuPo: When the National Enquirer "reports" a story, it's usually absolutely wrong. Give them credit for the Edwards exposure, but to continue to treat it as a quality source is desparate. Page Six might be calling to complain that their bits are being scooped.

celebs hate the enquirer because they are right quite a bit of the time....

At times I feel a bit out of mainstream in my views. But I persist because the off-the-mainstream-voice can find a place here. I feel it. I don't care about what the National Inquirer cares about. I don't care about the particulars of the mistress. I've been a cancer victim. And in my mind cancer patients should be put into a protected territory with their mates and cancer reactions so that the media is not scrutinizing things about them even cancer victims do not understand themselves. I recall my husband's horror that his wife had a disease that could kill a woman he thought of as friend and lover and companion of what he hoped would be a kind old age. Suddenly the object of his affection was asking him to brush out clouds of hair. She had no lashes or brows. She had the energy of a snail. I tenderly extend to the Edwards--both of them--my heartfelt feelings of sympathy and patience that all that went wrong because of this disease and human failings and reactions will give them strength and grace to remember who they were.
