Kiran Chetry Admits On CNN: Jon Stewart "Got Us" (VIDEO)

Thursday night on "The Daily Show," Jon Stewart made fun of CNN's "American Morning" co-host Kiran Chetry for contradictory reports she gave about using your cell phone while driving.

Stewart showed video from Wednesday, when Chetry warned viewers about the dangers of texting while driving.

He then showed video from Tuesday, when Chetry demoed the new CNN iPhone app and said how great it is....to use in the car.

"This is a cool thing, because if you're in the car already, you need to know what the traffic's going to be," Chetry said, showing off the application's traffic capabilities.

"You know what?" Chetry said Friday morning, "he got us."

"I bet you his wife never wins an argument, because he has a funny way of letting you know you're wrong. And you're just, 'OK, you win!'"

Actually, I didn't mind it so much when it was NEWS, but now all the stations are 24-hour POLITICS. Just try to find some "news" in prime time!

Remind me why people pay money to watch cable TV?

I dropped it as soon as the price went above $5.00 a month, sometime in the 1970s. If someone wants me to watch TV commercials, the broadcasts must be free or I need to be paid.

I pay for cable so I don't miss my 4 hrs./wk. of therapy (the Daily Show and the Colbert Report). The $64/mo. is less than the cost of one appointment.

wait a minute, how can you compare texting to something you stick on your windshield before you start driving and just hear? so gps' are as dangerous as driving? this doesnt make sense? should we turn the raio off too? and CD's? should everyone in the car be quiet?

GPSing, making calls, and texting while driving require one to take one's eyes off the road. And if the cell phone doesn't have speakerphone capability, one's hand is also not available for steering in an emergency.

So let's not generalize quite so much.

It wasn't just something you listened to, that was the point. If you'd seen CNN's report when they plugged their device, the reporter was shown telling everyone how easy it was to use the touch-screen to scroll through dozens of pages to find the traffic info you were looking for. Anyone using the device while driving would have had almost all of their attention on moving their finger down a screen while searching for the relevant information. It would have been like reading a book or a map on your lap while trying to drive.
