In these baby-and-politician situations, sometimes unforeseen circumstances intervene. I refer to a story my wife's mother told us a few years ago: the baby who would become my spouse would have been handed across to a politicking JFK, but for the full diaper she was sporting at that moment. Oh, well!

Perhaps it's just an age thing - the fact that President Obama is so much younger than our other recent Presidents, but he seems to really take great pleasure interacting with children. Even though it's quite obvious to me that little Sasha is Daddy's girl - he can't help but break into a proud grin whenever she says or does anything - I can't help but think the President would love to add a son to their family someday. It's probably for the best that President and Mrs. Obama have decided not to have any children while they are the residents of the White House, at least according to the First Lady - a baby on the way would be a major distraction - but I can't help but wish they would change their minds. Imagine having a pregnant First Lady - the child would automatically become a source of national pride. Even the most cynical of the Obama haters would find it hard not to be drawn into the joy and expectation of such a blessed event.

Children are drawn to Obama like a magnet. Look at the looks on the babies faces, they are happy around him. I bet dogs love him too, and cats. You can always trust babies and dogs for character references.
