AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — The Anne Frank House museum in Amsterdam has begun airing the only known video of the teenage diarist on a channel dedicated to her on YouTube.

The channel also features clips of others, including her late father Otto and Nelson Mandela, talking about Anne, museum spokeswoman Annemarie Bekker said Friday.

"It is really a great platform to show all the different kinds of films and documentaries about Anne Frank," Bekker added.

The channel shows footage taken during a neighbor's wedding on July 22, 1941. It briefly shows Anne before she and her family were forced into hiding to avoid the Nazis during their World War II occupation of the Netherlands.

The fleeting moving images of Anne already are on display at the museum and on its Web site in slightly shorter versions.

Bekker said the YouTube channel also has a video about the making of a 3-D virtual version of the secret annex concealed in an Amsterdam canalside house where the Frank family hid for 25 months until they were betrayed and deported.

The virtual version of the secret annex is due to be formally launched next year to help mark the 50th anniversary of the museum's founding.

Anne died aged 15 of typhus in the German concentration camp of Bergen-Belsen, seven months after her arrest and just two weeks before British and Canadian troops liberated the camp. Her posthumously published diary has made her a symbol of all Jews killed in World War II.

Anne Frank and her sister attended one of the first "primer" Montessori personally approved "schools".

Maria Montessori taught her teachers and left detailed observations written in the most scientific format of her day(1900's) which clearly taught us to listen to and observe what works and what does not work in regard to the benefit of development of the human being thru the infant, toddler, child, teenager, adult, and the aged.

Respect for the human being regardless of age is first and foremost. Second step would be to guide by example or a visual lesson what the next level of accomplishment might possible be.

Any Montessorian’s out there, on-line and posting?

This video was actually used in an Oscar winning documentary called "Anne Frank Remembered" back in 2004.

Pretty sad. Especially when such happy people have no idea what is going to happen to themselves in the near future.... The possibility of this happening again is very real...

Jewish Americans should be appalled at the way the way the far-right has trivialized the Holocaust by comparing President Obama to Hitler. And I agree with poster Demarcus Jackson. Chilling footage.

You're exactly right. I've been amazed that Jewish groups haven't denounced this. The comparison is an insult not only to the President, but even more so to Holocaust victims and survivors.

This Jewish American is appalled by the way the far Left AND the far Right have trivialized the Holocaust

As Elie Wiesel has said "Only Hitler can be Hitler"

Fascinating. The trait I remember most about her from her Diary was her subtle and profound perceptiveness, and it's interesting to watch her watch the street scenes below with the sort of hawk-like gaze her words had already induced me to visualize.

That gave me goose bumps. Incredible to see her like that, even if it is for such a quick moment. Just think, in the future historians and average students will be spoiled by all of the documented video and photo footage of our day and beyond. But for much of history before our time, all we have are hand written documents, artifacts, and paintings.

It's right down the street from where I live.

It boggles the mind that so much suffering could have happened where today I find so much reason to love life.

Wonderful that it's up, but this isn't "new." It was used in a documentary made a few years back. I'm glad that it's up where everyone can see it, though. Anne is only one example of all the lives that were taken from us by the Nazis, lives that could have brought so much good to the world. Thank God we have her diary, at least.

Very cool. I was there just after the renovations and I don't remember the film. Being in Amsterdam may have had something to do with that.
