What's Your Reaction?

David Letterman addressed his infidelity tonight on the "Late Show," both by joking about his affairs and by apologizing to his now wife and long-time girlfriend Regina Lasko. He began by asking if anyone else's weekend had flown by, through gritted teeth, and went on to say:

"...Right now I would give anything to be hiking on the Appalachian Trail. I got into the car this morning and the navigation lady wasn't speaking to me."

Yeah because NO ONE wants to sleep with their rich and famous boss!

That never happens, especially in the entertainment industry!

the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people. Dave, on the other hand, spent his time lying, cheating and taking advantage of his position for selfish reasons. A man's character is shown in his actions and Dave's actions show his.

When are his subordinates going to find the intestinal fortitude to start filing some civil lawsuits? Employees passed over for air time so Dave's lil' intern can get some face time. Other employees passed over for other opportunities like with CBS 48 Hrs.

YOU WANT SOME COMEDY!!!

Dave get's busted by the guy trying to extort him, when his girlfriend is outside his house in August, doin' Dave's "Top 10" (centemeters that is), It's a classic! I can't wait for the movie...Dave out in front of this guys house getting serviced right through his Worldwide Pants, getting busted by her boyfriend!

It is absurd that a matter of blackmail has turned into a Puritanical attack on Mr. Letterman. And I suspect his adult "victims" exploited him as much as he may have exploited them.

I don't watch the Letterman show, don't find the stuff his staff writes particularly funny. However, if given the opportunity I would definitely have sex with David; I find him particularly sexy and I like them tall. If people are having sex with David for reasons other than fun and frivolity then it's on them.

It doesn't matter when he had these alleged affairs, f they were with assistants or interns, it is sexual harassment pure and simple. Most large corporations would be formally reprimanding him, if not firing him and at very least he would be spending considerable time in sexual harassment sensitivity training.
He should not be excluded from whatever process the network has for other employees who perform this infraction.

I married one of my employee and 10 years and 3 children later, we're going strong.
Bill Gates married his employee and I don't think she is complaining.
Sexual harassment... please.

Women often like having affairs with famous and powerful people, its something that has been happened since the beginning of time. If the women were over 18 and willing it was not harassment.

What is going on? Did Dave have sex with these women recently? AFter being married? or was he sleeping around BEFORE the marriage part?

Also, were these women UNDER the age of 18? If not, What is the big FREAKING DEAL? if THEY decided to sleep with Dave that is their problem not HIS.

Everybody knows that true comedians aren't supposed to have active sex lives. No, they're supposed to COMPLAIN about the LACK OF SEX. They talked in the news about Dave's live-in girlfriend of 23 years, which must've been right after he broke up with Merrill Markoe. So if his girlfriend doesn't like it that Dave's fooling around with women at the office, that's her problem not his.

See, Dave thinks he's the new Johnny Carson, and he may have been at some point, but somehow it's just not the same. We'll of course all feel a sense of loss when Dave announces his retirement, but until then he'll just phone it in. Maybe Gerard Mulligan will blackmail him next, just out of boredom.

No matter the variables...no matter that Letterman's indescretions are a-ok and really kind of *funny* from his perspective...

Although affairs happen, an occasional tyrst is different than making it a mode of operation, especially when married. Letterman, Ted Turner, Ensign, Sanford, etc. all have a problem when they find it impossible to keep it zipped. Each present and forthcoming wienie burp is never enough. Good luck with that one.

As snippets of incendiary info. leak out, Letterman is going to regret that second day of self-effacing humor about the situation. That will no doubt be used in a creative capacity by Shardler (the lawyer). He will also go where the money is and check out what these women who had sex with Letterman were making as opposed to the staff in comparable jobs who were nearly there to work. This is going to drip, drip, drip, and who knows how many lovers Letterman had? He never gave a number. My theory is he'll definitely get so squeezed by that lawyer that he'll cave in and the 48 hours producer will not serve time, or perhaps even be penalized. Letterman, on the other hand, has years of litigation to look forward to, as well as a possible annulment of his 3 month marriage. I'd sure dump him if I were Merle. This Stephanie character I don't like, quite frankly. I'm often sympathetic to young girls who are manipulated by powerful men, such as Monica Lewinsky. But in the case of Stephanie Birkett, she is quite an operator sleeping with two incredibly powerful men who can help her in so many ways at once. I'm not sure if she wasn't the manipulator instead of Letterman. All three of them, however, are total sleeze. I can't wait to see Sharder (the lawyer's) moves.

What any of Letterman's staffers were paid has NO BEARING on the criminal case against the blackmailer, and a judge isn't going to let the defense attorney go there.

You think Monica Lewinsky was an example of "young girls who are manipulated by powerful men"?

If I remember correctly, she was an adult who showed the President her thong (while it was on her) long before said President ever touched her. In the modern age, plenty of sex happens without one of the participants being some kind of manipulated victim.

Monica Lewinksy state flat out, direct quote, to the new round of staffers: "I'm here to earn my Presidential kneepads." Now that is not in the "young girl ...manipulated by powerful men" category.

Bill is a "weak" if that is a fair characterization of the natural male tendency to mate, but I feel he was the victim in this one.

Where have all the Heroes gone

Where have all the heroes gone
Sanford, Edwards, and Letterman
All gone down the Rab-its-Hole.
Lots more where that came from...

Maybe it's time for Dave to start putting away the 'Late Show Bear' again.

Dave's show is highly entertaining. He is not a 'moral' crusading Christian-supremacist, so his actions are only relevant to the people directly involved. Sanfor, Ensign, and 'Diaperman' Vitter, are relevant because they are a threat to the rights of all other adults. Looking forward to the next Sarah Palin-related Top 10 List. Rev. I like the "I've never watched him, he's not funny" posters.

Letterman's statement was carefully crafted, did he really confess to anything we didn't already know, given that his previous girlfirend and his current wife were both staffers? Or presume, that he and those women had sex that is.

I like the "love nest" with a fold out sofa.

I am shocked and outraged that this man would have sex with a consenting adult behind closed doors.
