Ivanka

New York Times:

At Williams-Sonoma, the couple selected four spatulas that each cost $10 or less, along with $19.95 stackable measuring cups. They registered for a dozen 16-ounce glasses and a dozen 10-ounce glasses at Crate & Barrel ($7.95 each), but seem to have received twice that number, according to the Web site. Earlier this week, the six grasscloth lapis placemats ($4.95 each) and matching cotton lapis napkins ($3.95) were taken. These and other kitchen items should all help with preparing and serving the "tuna tartare, rack of lamb, chicken marbella, broccoli kugel, tomato crisp and fresh fruit for dessert" that Ms. Trump posted about on Sept. 25.

The offspring of two of the most prominent American families have tied the knot. Ivanka Trump the daughter of the world renowned Donald Trump and Jared Kushner the editor of The New York Observer and son of another big shark, real estate developer Charles Kushner tied the knot last night under heavy security at the Trump National Golf Club.

As usual twitter told us more action before the event than the news!

Ivanka mentioned Grace Kelly.

I think her wedding dress was the most beautiful ever, even now, with all the wondrous Vera Wang and other gowns!

I don't know how the idea of registering for wedding gifts -- and even worse, specific types of wedding gifts -- got started, but it is one of the crassest, low-class, nouveau riche ideas ever perpetuated.

It falls into line with a couple of other grab-the-riches, greedy wedding practices: paying to attend a wedding and stipulating an amount of gift money (I heard of a $500.00 stipulation recently for a post financial crisis middle-class wedding!)

...and these horrors of commercialization and crass have become the norm!

I would like to interrupt the heated 'spatula' debate thus far to say that her husband-to-be is one lucky guy. She's rich, smart and very se xy. Congrats to both.

Who would they be acquainted with who would spend only $10.00 on a gift?

Why would she need gifts? Why would she want people to buy, wrap, and send her low-cost gifts? Sigh........those who have, get.

The maid probably would have a more sensibly priced $2 spatula.

That article also failed to mention that they also have gift cards on there and you can select a value of up to $10,000. And you can buy as many gift cards as you want!

Good Lord! What a bunch of kitchen illiterates! I realize that this only has to do with kitchen tools, but those are not freaking spatulas! LA Times got it wrong, Huffpost got it wrong.... Sheesh. Can anybody cook out there?

THIS is a spatula:

Look familiar? You turn frying eggs with it.

THIS, on the other hand, is a dough scraper.

Sloppy journalism.

Yup you can bet Ivanka probably doesn' t know either, and probably has a maid do all the cooking, I'll bet she never enters a kitchen.

That red object pictured is also known as a spatula, so they are not wrong.

I grew up calling that a spatula, although technically you are correct.
