This should be no real news. The filth of the Republican wealthy elite mindset clearly says the little people don't matter. Only the rich and powerful. Everyone else is essentially fertilizer to the machine. Why pay attention to main street America? The attention payed to the wealthy and powerful makes them appear vulnerable and suffering. Ignore the truly suffering average Americans - they've got no power to hurt anyone, ormore importantly, to pay off anyone. Our media is controlled by the wealthy elite rightwing, with few exceptions. They don't want to concentrate on middle income, the poor, and the non-powerful.

To the righwing controlled media anyone who is not wealthy and powerful just don't matter, not until they are pulling down the gated communities and building bonfires on the property of the once rich and powerful. If the Republicans ever gain power again the media will be partially if not fully responsible. The ultimate Republican goal is to enslave all of America except the rich and powerful, and to eliminate any chance they will ever lose power again. The media is a tool to that end.

The media goes were the action goes. The media goes where the money flows. Ordinary unemployed and bankrupt Americans are the forgotten Americans. The Obama Administration has cast our fate with the banks. Now we are beginning to suffer the whirlwind.

Don't blame Obama. It's right wing controlled media. And of course the destruction of the American economy has nothing to do with 8 disastorous years of Republican criminal rule.

Big surprise. They only write about their friends. They don't have the energy or talent to actually go out and get the stories that matter.

Most private citizens don't want to talk about their troubles to journalists. Some of those who stand in line at food banks look like they want to hide themselves. They would rather suffer in silence.

...except for the tea baggers who enjoy yelling and screaming at town halls, having found a scapegoat (Socialism) for all their problems.

The fact is, we're all pretty much at the mercy of the system, which has been rigged. For the unemployed, it's a game of "musical chairs" with five left standing for each chair (job) that's available.

Try committing some minor criminal offense -- you can't even get booked into a jail cell these days. What are we coming to?

I know they wanted me to clear and old warrant and serve a day in jail, I have tried to serve that day for two months now.

That's because we are a government of the bankers, by the bankers and for the bankers, not the people...

"Newspapers did more financial reporting than other media" indicates how badly we need newspapers to survive and serve our democracy.

On the other hand, reporting on the impact of the meltdown on everyday lives and communities is still in short supply. Perhaps if more had been written, the liberal and progressive intellectuals and politicos might not have been caught flatfooted by the benchmark adjustment revision upwards of unemployment figures for 2008-2009. Only when these figures and Aug's numbers came out did a concentrated effort to address unemployment come from these circles. It could have come much earlier. Elites, journalists and political types, need to guard against their isolation.

You don't think that narcissistic "journalists" (aka Obama fan) like Chuck Todd are actually going to get out and talk to the unwashed masses do you?

Companies buy advertising and issue press releases. Companies expect these press releases will be published due to the fact they buy advertising from the same publications. People do not advertise or issue press releases.

This perplexes Pew researchers.

More importantly, the reporting about Wall Street is profoundly misleading, because it is devoid of accurate explanations for naked short selling, SWAPS, which have savaged the commodities and stock markets.
