Dallas Morning News:

A former military lawyer who served in the Reagan White House and worked for Ross Perot is suing a Dallas-based religious organization in a case that could test the limits of free speech and prayer.

Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, said he wants Gordon Klingenschmitt, a former U.S. Navy chaplain, to "stop asking Jesus to plunder my fields ... seize my assets, kill me and my family then wipe away our descendants for 10 generations."

The far-right Republicans have been cultivating (please note the root word "cult", heh, heh...) relationships with lunatic evangelicals for decades now. In this way, the farther right the congreation and preacher, the more they can fire up their base by falsely telling them that they are not "good Christians" unless they vote for people like Bush and Michele Bachmann.

Plus, it feeds into their narcissistic delusions of granduer, since Repubs who have all but annhilated the constitution and rule of law can portray themselves as the only "true" Americans and patriots, just as the far-right evangelicals who have been spewing racist and anti-American drivel for generations can claim to be the "true" Christians. A marriage made in hell if there ever was one.

I think it will be a difficult case to win because Klingenschmitt quotes the bible so they aren't his words.

Weinstein is right to be afraid since he is receiving death threats, had a swastika emblazoned on his home, animal carcasses left on his doorstep and feces thrown at the house.

BTW - Klingenschmitt, has a website, pray in jesus name project, where he is fighting "Obamacare".
On that same website he is fighting to keep his own government health care benefits and government subsidized housing.

"Weinstein, 54, said his family has received death threats, had a swastika emblazoned on their home in New Mexico, animal carcasses left on their doorstep and feces thrown at the house."

If it were just "prayer" there would be no problem, but these nuts are inciting other "religious" nuts to abuse this guy and his family.

The incidents at Mikey's house have actually gone far beyond the examples listed in the article. He has actually had the windows of his house shot out, people on his roof terrorizing his daughter, and other things like that.

The creepiest thing is when the fundamentalists get their little Christian children to call Mikey's house and sing songs about killing him and his family.

Why don't he just hire a voodoo doctor to counteract the "threat prayers"?! Tit for tat sort of speak! Idiots.

Threat prayers made in private can have no impact except in the mind of the prayer. When made in public, they become death threats.

Thou shalt not put the Lord thy God to the test. Wasn't that one of those commandment thingies they wanted nailed up in front of some courthouse somewhere?

In a nutshell, this is basically why our "founding fathers" put in the Constitution,"the separation of Church an State". They had the foresight to see to it, that if this country is to be truly "free an democratic", religion has to be kept out of government, an be a personal matter and or trait. For any church to incite "evil thoughts an acts" goes beyond decency, an should have their tax exempt status revoked. There should be no churches of only one denomination, on any base of which American personnel serve. Our country is adored by many for having so many different religions an basically co-existing an mutual respect. People came to America to escape religious persecution.
