Book is already out (2006) along with the "Zombie Survival Guide" by the same author (Max Brooks). Your l;ocal library should have them.

The movie is scheduled for release late 2010 to mid 2011.

Zombieland is simply an uncredited remake of Shaun of the Dead, which was exceptionally funny to begin with.

Then you have obviously not seen Zombieland.

Ouch. Maybe fewer screens for Drew's movie? I can't imagine "Zombieland" being a bigger draw unless a bunch of 10 year olds flocked the movie theaters this weekend.

But that's just me.

Er, something tells me you're not in much of a prime movie-goer demographic anymore. Zombieland was PACKED with every conceivable type of movie fan. It's probably the broadest type of genre enjoying popularity today.

Really?! Then I really am out of touch. I watched the trailer and found it inconceivable that anyone would spend a dime to see it!

The movie was actually an interesting little comedy, very well executed. You have to assess movies based upon what they are trying to do, not whether it matches one's individual tastes. I personally can't stand Gone With the Wind. That doesn't mean the movie su cks.

Maybe not the best movie on the list, but Zombieland was a lot of fun! The trailer was also perfect, which seems to be translating into a fair amount of hype.

Of course it did! Women and girls will go to action movies to please their mates. Men and boys wouldn't be caught dead going to a chick flick. Broadly speaking, that is.

Oh please- what year are you in? And are you a deferential female or a projecting male?
I saw (and loved) Zombieland with a group of women, and there were many, many other women in the theatre without their 'mates'.
'broadly' speaking....' oh, it can make sexist puns too. How quaint.

No pun intended or even conceived. Where was YOUR mind?

I stand by my statement, judging not by myself (not a man, never deferential to anyone) but by the experiences of friends, relatives and everybody I've ever seen in a theater seat during a "chick flick." Note, I never said NO woman likes action movies, or NO man likes costume dramas. It was a smart-a@@ed generalization. Period.

Watch what you like. My point is that media has devalued itself into discussing box office numbers as a measure of intrinsic worth. Which was missed. I like a lot of trash, too, and I'm the first to call it such.

AMEN. I'm sick of these stupid headlines. A couple of weeks ago it was "Meatballs CRUSHES Jennifer Aniston" or something of the like.

Yes, multiple movies open every weekend and they all don't draw the same so one is inevitably on top.

It's not Ultimate Fighting though so it would be great if HuffPo and other news outlets stopped hyping up conflict where there really isn't much.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:44 PM on 10/05/2009

I really tire of hearing the bellyachers about how "lowbrow" the humor of zombieland was. If you don't have anything to say, or just want to defend a mediocre grrrl-flick, that's fine, but if you're so "enlightened", why did you even see something as trite as zombieland?
I saw both this weekend. I felt my money was well spent on Zombieland. I was dragged to with it. The lines and "epiphany" moments were so predictable. The girl with the secret life in roller derby. Wow..that's never been done....someone with one persona, with a hidden other. Sheesh, gimme a break.
At least I laughed in zombieland. And didn't see it coming a mile away.
