AmEx and NBC Shine A Light On Small Businesses (VOTE)

American Express has partnered with NBC Universal for Shine a Light, a campaign to celebrate small businesses. The entrepreneurial spirit and resilience of small businesses and their owners, especially in these tough times, is being shared through stories.

Readers can vote through October 16 on the stories of three finalists who were selected by judges Diane Von Furstenberg, JJ Ramberg and Ellen Degeneres. The winner will receive $100,000 in grant and marketing support.

The finalists are:HappyBaby, an organic baby foods line focused on sustainable agriculture, Sacred Wind Communications, a telecommunications company that has a nonprofit arm that supports the Navajo community in New Mexico, and Beacon Paint, a neighborhood paint and hardware store in NYC's Upper West Side.
