Chicago Tribune:

Though Chicago's campaign for the 2016 Summer Games went down in flames in the first round of voting, there was nothing more the city could have done to change the ultimate outcome, the city's bid leader, Patrick Ryan, told the Tribune in an interview Tuesday.

I think the medical insurance issue is a big factor in why we didn't get the bid. For one thing people all over the world have been hearing about how we feel about foreigners using our health care system and that we are perfectly comfortable with letting 45,000 or our own people die a year because they can't cough of the cash to prove their "privileged status". We know that Canadians buy special insurance to visit this ruthless country. People from countries with Single Payer probably thought.... OH HELL NO, WE AIN'T GOING THERE! Couple that with stories like what's going on in Hardin, Montana and it sounds like some kind of weird unpredictable nightmare here. Guess what, they're right.

Rio may have had it sewed up, but there is no way anyone can explain away the first round knockout Chicago took. It was a slap in the face for some reason because it proved Chicago was not even in the running with Rio. They ended up poles apart.

When Rio starts to get tough on crime to clean up before the Olympics will they target the cops or criminals first?
