So you folks should be more careful before you start flippantly just comparing one situation with Iraq and Afghanistan, and jumping on the US government for condemning the situation in Guinea. You have absolutely no idea what's going on there. Basically, there'd been a brutal dictarorship for 25 years. That country has tons of mineral wealth, but the people live on a dollar a day. So when the dictator died, the head of the military, Camara, took over and promised free elections.

The protest was about the fact that Camara just announced that he changed his mind, and he was actually going to enter the elections, effectively meaning that he was taking over.

People protested in a staduim, and so the military showed up with bayonetted rifles, and started stabbing and shooting people. If the 200 deaths you aren't enough for you, know that there were about 1500 people stabbed with bayonets, and a lot of women raped right there.

These people are so desparate, as this means endless poverty and suffering for these people. The US usually stays out of West African issues, so Hillary's going down there and calling Camara out was bold, and a huge positive step.

I was just in Guinea a month ago, and, despite their crushing poverty, the people there are so warm and open, and they certainly have better things to do than sit on their fat arses, surfing the net, and taking lazy pot shots at things they don't understand.

Thirty two Republican Senators have rejected the State Department memo condemning rape and murder. Republican Sen. Sessions says this is nothing more than an attack on Haliburton and Blackwater.

ah ah ... "deep outrage" ..

coming from the country who authorized torture, waterboarding, opened a prison camp in Guantanamo to let people without trial during 8 years and counting , Abu graib prison in Iraq, on and on and on.....

start by cleaning your own mess before being outraged ...

seriously....

'Deep Outrage', is that different to 'Shallow Outrage'? I think the people over at the State Department need to understand that after the illegal invasion of Iraq, we have no moral right to condemn anyone over human rights.

Is this the same "outrage" the US expressed against the massacres in Rwanda? The ones the wouldn't vote to provide UN Peacekeepers and support too?

Much like Dubya continually parroted key phrases ("Stay the Course", "Turning Point"), I suspect the Obama Admin may soon be guilty of the same. Will we soon be adding "Deeply Outraged" to his "Deeply Concerned" ???

Obama was:
