Birkitt Halderman

People:

According to the newspaper, Birkitt, Letterman's former personal assistant, wrote that she continued her affair with Letterman even after moving in with Robert "Joe" Halderman, the CBS producer now charged with attempting to blackmail the late-night host.

Last fall, according to the Post, Letterman, now 62, and Birkitt, 35, hiked together at his expansive Montana ranch, where Letterman and longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko, the mother of his son, Harry, were married this past March.

Stephanie became Letterman's personal attorney when she graduated from law school. I wonder if it was Stephanie and Letterman that Halderman was meeting with 3 times before he received the $2 million paycheck.

It just seems weird to me that Halderman would agree to go to see Letterman's attorney to strike up an extortion agreement; but if he was meeting with his ex girlfriend, and the man that she was involved with - it might have slipped his mind that Stephanie was now Letterman's attorney, and was not seeing her in that way.

ALso, on some other articles; some are suggesting that Letterman actually paid for Birkitt's law school; if he did that would be pretty strange - why would a sexual harasser pay for the law school tuition for his victim of sexual harassment? That would be like a man who beats his wife, handing over a loaded gun to her for self defense.

The tricky part that Letterman has now, he can't just get rid of Stephanie Birkitt, even if his wife is uncomfortable with her being around him. If he does try to get rid of her now, it would be because of the sexual complexities. But I'm sure that Regina is not going to be happy with Stephanie.

David Letterman broke at least 2 of the rules of engagement for workplace romances by having sex with female members of his staff. Yet other rules Letterman strictly observed.

To find out which rules Letterman broke, and which rules he followed, see the article entitled David Letterman Broke 2 Cardinal Rules Governing Workplace Romance at http://bit.ly/yhTMo You’ll find the complete list of the Rules of Engagement for Office Affairs and Workplace Romance. Anyone involved in a workplace romance, who wants to keep things on a professional level, should follow the guidelines in this list. These rules are also posted on my Infidelity News and Views blog.

What are all these comments about Dave Letterman's or Stephanie Brikitt's looks.....beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Only in the USA are we so obsessed with this People Magazine concept of how people should look or act.
How about all you making snide remarks on their looks post your mug shot as an avatar, so we can add our comments about your physical appearance.
This story is really long past dead....consenting adults brought into the open by a jilted lover's attempt at extortion..Dave really just has to answer to his wife and work things out ...or not.

It's ironic that Dave just got married in March after 20 years in that relationship and very soon may be in divorce court.

I've said from the beginning to wait to see what part she had in this.

She worked for Letterman, left - went to work on 48 hours where Halderman worked, left there and went back to Letterman Show. Somewhere in there she chose to move in with Halderman.

For those making comments about how either Lettermen or "the women" look, I've got news: if "looks" were all that mattered for romance, we wouldn't have human overpopulation. (Just a friendly reality check. :o)

An interesting take on blackmail by John Schwartz in his piece "The Art of Blackmail" at < http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/04/weekinreview/04schwartz.html?_r=1&hpw >.

Three narcissists not caring how many others they hurt. I think Dave should sit at his son's lunch table at school with him and hear what those classmates have to say......this is no laughing matter to those who are collateral damage.

His son is only five--he'll be fine. It's mom who might be in a spin right about now...unless she already knew and she and Letterman had moved on? (As my mother is overly fond of saying, "You'll never know what's between a man and a woman.")

Well, well....no surprise. She didn't care about Regina. Why should she care about her new BF.

True. That's usually the case in these circumstances, isn't it?

But. looks aside, it's the personality . . . they all three seem kinda creepy.

BTW, I've never been a Letterman fan -- his humor's not liberal enuf for me. I'm more the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert-type.
