Apple Tablet Rumored To Launch In Early 2010

Apple Tablet

Rumors surrounding the launch of Apple's mythical touchscreen Tablet computer have been swirling, and here's one more to add to the mix: the Tablet could hit markets as soon as the first quarter of 2010.

According to DigiTimes, which got the scoop:

Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) will be the manufacturing partner for an upcoming tablet PC device from Apple, according to market sources. The device is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2010, with initial shipments from Foxconn being in the 300,000-400,000 range, the sources said.

The device will have a 10.6-inch display, and the sources speculated that perhaps Foxconn could secure panels from its subsidiary Innolux Display.

DigiTimes' source also reports that the device will focus on e-reader capabilities, rather than music.

Among other rumors concerning the Tablet, the web has been buzzing with hints of the content deals it is reportedly negotiating with print publishers. Read more about that here.

Think cloud computing, web access (very heavy graphics), virtual network connection (to a home/base/server), Requires very fast high (and configurable) resolution. And of course 3/4 G connectivity everywhere. This is to be a portable access port.
All this I hope for in a very much under 3 pound and somewhat rugged form factor. Long battery life - from get up to got to bed and use all day on the go.
Hope Apple gets there.

If you've read the links in this story you'd know that Apple has talked to everyone from the NYT, to magazine publishers to text book publishers.

Imagine a student not having to lug around all those text books. Being able to read the NYT with out all that paper to deal with and be able to see video of news events as well as photos. Magazines with text, photos and videos. All available from the iPod store.

Read a newspaper, see videos and photos .. on a computer. Impossible.

See naked men and women performing all sorts of contorted actions on a computer. . . Impossible.

I plan on buying one if the ebook capabilities are as good as it looks, including color. If I have to buy another down the road when all kinks are worked out, so be it.

shouldn't the government buy one of these for every kid at birth so THEY CAN TWEET instead of CRY when they want some attention...........it seems like something the CONGRESS COULD AGREE on in a bipartisan way.................................................NO KID WITHOUT AN APPLE TWEET

THE thing is THE INITIAL RUN will not be properly test in real life situations as was the case with the iphone...................and it will be horribly overpriced appealing only to the lamebrained cultists who wait all night in line chewing thier milk duds. CONNECTIVITY is going to be a problem and APPLE
DOES NOT SEEMS AWARE OF THE NEED TO TEST PRIOR TO SELLLING THIS JUNK

Everyone on the planet knows that the initial run of these things will ultra flawed and that the hype along will lead to long lines of fruitcakes who would trade in their grandmother for one. All the grandmothers of the world should turn it around and trade in their grandchildren for one, even
thought the prices will drop by 1000 percent in a year. Apple fanatics are such trash.

You know what would be awesome about this tablet? How about if it becomes a more sophisticated version of Microsoft's 'Surface', but portable.

That would pretty much stick in M$'s craw for a while.

apple's new reader would be a great addition to Hospitals... a much more useful size and form-factor for DR's to have access to all kinds of medical software and patient records on the go...I can also think of many more uses for this device..

You're about 20 years behind the times. This tablet will go for $700 usd. $600 for education customers. And it will be done right.

"done right"... in other words, it will cost $700, and only cost Apple $100 to make.
06:10 PM on 10/07/2009
Right now you could cobble together a touchscreen netbook for $250.

It would look pretty nice but not very fashionable.
