Shep Smith Outraged By Bacon Cheese Doughnut Burger: 'Sign Of The Apocalypse' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 3/18/10 Updated: 5/25/11

Fox News host Shepard Smith has a reputation for speaking his mind, and today he let his viewers know the latest source for his outrage: the bacon cheese doughnut burger. The culinary monstrosity is 1,500 calories and seems guaranteed to cause a heart attack. Smith said you could eat one, or just commit suicide. Shep sees a sign of the apocalypse:

I don't know how many grams of fat it is. They won't tell us. Look at it! That's a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and cheese and burger, and Krispy Kreme and bacon and Krispy Kreme doughnuts on either side of it slapped on the grill. Good God! [...] A bar owner says he came up with the doughnut burger four years ago when he ran out of hamburger buns...

There are signs of the Apocalypse. I mean, you hear about them. This may be one of them.

He's talking about the crazy burger debuted at the Big E in Springfield, MA - I searched in vain for this heart stopper but without sucess - was I saved? was it fate? or fat?

could this truly be the end of days?

Maybe we won't go out with fire and fury but slowly in a wallow of cellulite - fat cells stretched to the breaking point like that guy in the monty python movie - we will consume until the whole world just explodes from just one more little bite - of crazy burger

Note the McGriddle.

In college, I discovered the toaster waffle as a sandwich medium. Occasionally, I still make my classic PB&J on waffles. Memories are some of life's greatest pleasures. It's a happy thing for me.

If we eat healthy a large majority of the time, I don't see why we shouldn't be able to treat ourselves to something whimsical and excessive when the moment is right.

Isn't this also the basis for fine dining? It's not practical, it's an indulgence. That's the point.

Do you really want to live in a society where foods that are safe to consume in moderation are banned by the government? Where a small business has to get its menu approved by the state?

Consumers have a right to know what's in their food and how it's prepared. Restaurant managers should be required by law to furnish this information, at least upon request.

Armed with the necessary information, you make the decisions about your body. This is an argument that people of certain ideological sensibilities make all the time in other contexts.

Sometimes, freedom is greasy.

LOL behold the horse carrying donuts! (is this part of the bible the menta_l cases are editing?

Think about it....eating those might actually make sense.

The people that will eat this probably normally eat donuts and hamburgers. By putting them together they're getting both their donut and buger fix at the same time and are not eating the hamburger bun, which means they're consuming less.

Maybe I'm just too optomistic and try to look at the good in things....but I would like to try a piece of it...looks interesting.

I would think that someone who spends his days in the FOX News studio would have seen MANY signs of the apocalypse before this.

Ain't it bleak when you got so much nothin'

This is absolutely insane.

Deep fried twinkies, a chicken sandwich in which the chicken is the bun and now this.

Some people point to an increase of so called sexual perversions as an indicator of an empire’s demise, I think this is a much better indicator.

Without having seen the clip...

Shep, there are much bigger things to be "outraged" about.

William Tecumseh Sherman - too bad he isn't here any more. We could use him today, to ride through the south again.

I'm really starting to like this guy (well, he's a guilty pleasure - I think I do like Shep). Note to Murdoch - you don't have to destroy American to make money - Shepard Smith is proof that you have a "talent" that doesn't need to brainwash the audience with Republican Neocon Religulous Propaganda.

Sorry I'll not be able to see him live as I've banned FOX from my home with the VChip!

I have to say... I like Shep Smith. People always say that he is the one good journalist on Fox, but I just think he's a good journalist ... though this story is hardly of note.

Does this explain why the FauxNews staff have chronic dysentary at both ends?

"Shep Smith might be the smartest person to work at fox news."

Faint praise, indeed.
