Emma Ruby-Sachs: The Big Gay Speech We Wish Obama Would Give
I'm sure his speechwriters have cooked up something special for Saturday, but I've got a few ideas of my own. I've written a speech for the beloved President -- the kind of speech we wish the man would give, just once.

Here's the speech I would like to hear Obama make on Saturday when he addresses the national meeting of the Human Rights Campaign, the largest lesbian and gay civil rights organization in the nation.

An Evangelical Wlngnut’s Night-time Prayer
Now I lay me down to sleep
Pray to God my soul to keep
I voted for Bush the Texacutioner
Who put more people to death than an executioner
The highest execution rate of any governor in history
How he was elected president is still a mystery
The biggest serial killer since Timothy McVeigh,
mocks Karla's pleas for clemency during her final days
I hold stoutly to my world view
Despite being contradicted by what is proven true
I believe the earth to be only 4000 years old
“Intelligent” design is the view I hold
Even though evolution explains how life changed and adapted
verified by countless experiments not retracted
the scientific facts should be stricken as inadmissible
teaching creationism to our children is permissible
Take some parts literally, others out of place
And I can use the Bible to judge the whole human race
Pat Robertson said 9/11 was a punishment from God
That innocents died instead of him he didn’t find odd
For lifestyles of feminism, liberalism, and being gay
Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson said over 3,000 people died that day
That God will punish them for their remark
Pride has hidden from a judgmental heart

“After the last tree standing is felled”
“Christ will come back” I heard James Watt tell
you see evangelicals don’t care about generations
because they won’t have to be here to face elimination
“compassionate” conservatives fantasize about journeying through the air
As Left Behind: The Series plays out below everywhere
While pollution they caused brings about ecological collapse
It doesn’t bother them that people will die perhaps
So why do we put up with this crap? Why don't we run ads that are mirror images, but instead of saying GAY MARRIAGE, we say INTER-RACIAL MARRIAGE? "There's a gathering storm when BLACK MEN want to marry WHITE WOMEN" Oh my!!!! Well, we can't allow THAT now can we? How about we ALLOW civil unions for inter-racial couples, huh? I mean I'm sure that's what G O D would want right? That's exactly the same kind of fire and brimstone rhetoric that 'conservatives' belched during the 60s. Give me a break!
FWIW re Awful Ad #4 and its syrupy song about saving the family, both composer and lyricist are Mormon women. Lyricist Joy Saunders Lundberg writes scripts for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcasts every Sunday, among other things. Composer Janice Kapp Perry has been writing treacly "faith-promoting" ballads for Mormon youth for the last 30 years.

Okay, if these are the worst, then what videos were the best? There has to be the "best" if there is a "worst." Are they going to offer a roundup of the best? I doubt if they will, but I hope they prove me wrong. Instead of using the word "worst," they should have gone with "our roundup of the videos we disagree with and really hate."
Equality in the civil right of marriage is not an issue to be voted on, it is a given.
This might be the worst ad I have ever seen just from a marketing perspective. What's the argument? I'm struggling to follow what their point is? How is gay marriage infringing on a heterosexual person's rights?
This is going into the file of bad communications....
Sudden overwhelming urge to rewatch Prop 8 The Musical...
it's fairly obvious that gay marriage is affecting wholesome christian republican married men. since gay marriage was legalized, look at the toll it's taken on larry craig, gov. sanford, mark foley, david vitter, john ensign and a host of others
You forgot Charlie Crist
Here'a a parody thats actually sad.....

Thanks for sharing that.
I bet these are the people who made the film and the "actors" are the same people that are yelling there too much government in our privates lives! Yet, here they are, trying to get legislation against a right of a group of people to marry.
As a gay African American Asian homeless veteran I am offended by basically everything. Why can't people just leave me and Lance alone and let us get married so we can eventually get divorced just like everyone else in this country? I just don't get it.
why do you think you're being funny? it's amazing to me that your focus is to ridicule this very serious topic. have you been up all night thinking about ways to amuse yourself? well it's far from funny, in fact, it's beginning to be a little sad
I agree. Fanned. Where's Keith Olbermann when you need him.
