David Gregory Rachel Maddow

"Meet the Press" had a convincing win this past Sunday, taking the top spot among Sunday talk shows with an average of 3.140 million total viewers. That's 17.6% more than second-place "Face The Nation" (2.670 million) and 19.3% more than third-place "This Week" (2.630 million). "Fox News Sunday" averaged 1.190 million total viewers.

"Meet the Press," moderated by David Gregory, featured US Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice and a roundtable including The New York Times' David Brooks, The Washington Post's E.J. Dionne, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, and Republican strategist Mike Murphy.

It was Maddow's second appearance — the first, on August 16, drew 3.359 million total viewers for the show's highest delivery since April.

"Meet the Press" has now won nine consecutive weeks since falling to ABC's "This Week" on August 2.

My husband and I are huge fans of Maddow....she's awesome and backs up her stories right then and there. I hate that I missed her Sunday. She puts most of the other's to shame with her quickness and facts. She will move up quickly.

The proof is in the pudding. Rachel puts it up and knocks it down. I've seen her call out democrats and republicans. She scrapes the layers off politics and unveils actual facts. Those overdosed on Fox would find a cure in the Rachel Maddow Show.

they don't want Rachael on MTP because she won't let those politicians get away with non-sensical answers - they will definitely have to do their homework - period -

Which is EXACTLY WHY Rachel Maddow would be PERFECT for MTP! Tim Russert always called out politicians on their crap! He was a master at doing his homework before any of the Washington clowns appeared on MTP!

Rachel Maddow is best for MTP.

David Gregory literally kisses the rear end if any Dems come on the show.

Rachel is more effective and balanced.

Rachel rocks.

She's brilliant, fair, balanced, uses facts, history, sound bytes, interviews and headlines to make her points about the news. I always learn something when I watch her evening news.

Her report on Friday about the Nobel Peace prize was superb.

To watch her report: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMJuEOaF84o

She made the point that sometimes the Nobel committee awards for "accomplishment" and at other times for "effort." Best reporter on the air.

Rachel seems to be putting her PhD training to good use. I feel like I am watching a professor at work when I watch her show. She makes her case, gathering relevant facts in order to prove it. She couldn't trap Rick Berman, that is, she didn't take him down -- cuz he's slick -- but he could not counter her arguments with facts.

I used to think that she was going to follow Keith's show with more of the same stuff, but that does not appear to be the case.

I endorse what Rachel's exposes, and I hope that they keep coming.

NBC will be getting the message soon enough; add Rachel and the ratings go up. My personal take is that NBC already knows they have a winner, they're just looking for someplace else they can move David Gregory to now that Chuck Todd has taken over as chief WH correspondent.
Here's an idea NBC; make David an alternate weatherman to Al Roker.

/snark off

Sure would be nice to see a woman other than Kooky Roberts on Sunday morning.

Right. Don't know what happened to Cokie. She used to be pretty insightful. Somewhere along the way she became very full of herself. Now she is insufferable. IMHO

NBC White House Correspondent Chuck Todd concurred that the prize posed problems for Obama.

“You’re right, will he go to Stockholm to pick it up?

What does he do with the money? You get a million dollars.

You get over a million dollars for winning this.” (The prize is actually given in Oslo. There is a banquet in Stockholm.)

But Todd was confident that Obama would survive the crisis.

“Mark’s probably right,” he said. “He’ll figure out some way of accepting this in another form, not on his own behalf.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chuck Todd a “journalist” and “Whitehouse correspondent”, does not know the difference between Sweden and Norway!!
THEN he goes on to report that Obama winning the Nobel Prize as a crisis??
THIS is “the press” that is supposed to be keeping the public informed.
He makes Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh look intelligent.
And they call his network liberal?
How about unpatriotic, aligned with Hamas and the Taliban.
The republicans want power back so badly they are all too willing to trash their own country.
Now the media, featuring Chuck Todd, are so desperate for sensationalism, they follow lock step with the republicans.
If Rachel Maddow did not work for the same network, she would be tearing Todd apart for this crap!
Chuck Todd, tonight's Worst Person In The Wooooooorrrrrllllllddddddd!
Said it before; I'll say it again. The broadcast media is owned by Corporate America. What constitutes "the news" is what Corporate America wants us to perceive as "the News".
...and people wonder why Jon Stewart is now this nation's most trusted newsman.
"...pay no attention to the man behind the curtain..."
I would love to see Rachel have a show on PBS.
Like a "nightly political review".
Without commercials.
Or have MSNBC run her (daily) shows on the weekend.
That would help MSNBC's ratings.
Rachel Maddow will help any shows ratings. She has become a hero to some of us who want to be told the truth, ah, how refreshing. She has style, class and intelligence, willing to call out a lie, dig deeper, be on the cutting edge, make news not just report it. She is on the side of "the people". It would be good if NBC considers her as moderator of MTP.
I see a bright future for Maddow, her love of politics is quite evident. She has the makings of a great politician.
How dare you call her a politician!
That is the lowest, most mean-spirited thing you can call a great and decent lady.
Is David Gregory going for a long vacation soon? Rachel Maddow would be a perfect permanent substitute.
It goes beyond opinion. It is incontrovertible fact that Rachel Maddow is the ideal that all other journalists,commentators and pundits should aspire to emulate.
As others have noted, she would be so much the better choice to moderate MTP. I'm afraid it will never happen however, as she has never attempted to hide her personal politics.
Perhaps even more notable to the NBC execs, how many of these blowhard politicians would dare to come and spar with Rachel? The few who have dared to appear on her MSNBC show have found themselves severely over-matched and embarrassed. She comes armed with quotes and facts, and refuses to allow them to get away with their customary evasions and double-talk.
All the prevaricators would be running to Fox...
Rachel Maddow is the smartest, wittiest, most informed, accurate, fair and best reporter in the business today. I don't miss her evening broadcast and learn something every single time; about history, about the day's top stories, about the truth, about who really said what when - she's fantastico. Go Rachel!
