Bill Maher: Repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Because It Will Make Rush Limbaugh "Explode" (VIDEO)

On "Real Time" Friday night Bill Maher suggested that this weekend was the perfect time for President Obama to announce that he would repeal "don't ask, don't tell," due to the fact that Obama will be speaking to a gay rights group on Saturday and because of the march for gay rights in Washington Sunday. Maher referred to "don't ask, don't tell'' as a policy that "never made sense to begin with."

The HBO host then delivered some particularly amusing reasons why Obama should end the policy. "Forget all the good arguments for repeal, like, because it's the right thing to do, or because it was promised in the campaign," Maher said. Instead:

"Do it because it will make Rush Limbaugh explode like a bag full of meat dropped from a helicopter," he said. "Do it because it will make Sarah Palin go rogue in her pants."

The services must provide some separation, at least in living quarters, between those groups that sexually attract to each other. It really is difficult enough having women in the military service, in some respects. Though I know many would fight me on that. I am old enough to remember some of those problems when the numbers of women started to increase drastically.

A serviceman that has a sexual attraction to a another member of his work unit can cause big problems in the morale of others who have to watch it and listen to it up close. I cannot imagine the problems that could come up when it becomes men on men, men on women, women on women, women on bisexual women, etc. etc. I don't understand how it would work out if sexual preference became an open thing. I still rarely see women in a combat situation when they show video of fighting units on the news.

A fighting man who has sex on his mind is not a fully functioning fighting man, and he is a danger and distraction to the others in his units, whatever his sexual preferences are. And don't tell me that men in the workplace do not have sex on their mind. Bill Clinton was in the oval office and could not keep his mind on his work.

i'm all about anyone serving our country. HOWEVER, those rules aren't in place for a dumb reason. Just like they don't want men and women rooming together, they don't want men having sex with eachother. It makes sense when you think about it.

DADT is in place for a dumb reason, people think you can "catch gay". Straight men don't have sex with other men. Gay men don't lure men who don't want them into gayness. People are uncomfortable with difference, and that bigotry has been made law. It absolutely is dumb.

DADT is a military thing. It has nothing to do with politics, bigotry or equal rights. If men are going to risk their lives to keep this country free for minimum wage, we owe it to them to let them do it on their own terms. It is absolutely all about what the military man thinks, based upon his mainstream upbringing, religion, faith, and desire for fairness in the foxhole. It has nothing to do with how gay men think about how they are being treated. Combat is real life or death, not a theater for every political persuasion to act out their fantasies.

Funny how you never see these Anti-Gay Marriage hypocrits protesting the the real,obvious, threat to marriage and the Family Unit . Thier 50% plus divorce rate. Haven't seen any sermons or protests calling for natioanl laws banning frivilous and multiple divorces or marriages. Especially considering the preventable devastation it causes families and especially children. It's so easy to find fault with others when it so effectively takes the spotlight off your own.

I posted this elsewhere. I am surprised the witty Maher hasn't picked up on this. Obama needs for cannon fodder for Afghanistan. He was asked for more troops. How many Democrat, liberal, lefties will enlist for their guy Obama? Hmmm, 5? 10? Not enough. He needs 40,000 - at least. So open it up to gays. Maybe they will step up for Obama. Even though he is for marriage between a man and a woman. Obama has the magic touch. That's what the Nobel committee thinks. So maybe if he revokes the don't ask...a lot of his gay supporters will step up to the front line for him. Right.

The term is interesting--in military lexicon it refers to someone who is gung-ho to start war, but would never think of fighting themselves.
