CHICAGO -- Marge is about to do something Homer might not approve of.

Playboy magazine is turning over its cover to the matriarch of Springfield's first family: Marge Simpson.

It's a first for the magazine, which has had everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Cindy Crawford to the Girls of Hooters and even the likes of Jerry Seinfeld on the cover. But it's never had a cartoon character before.

Marge and her pile of bright blue hair are set to grace the cover of the November issue of Playboy. It will hit the newsstands October 16.

Marge isn't going to bare all, though, as the magazine says there will only be "implied nudity" in the 3-page pictorial.

New CEO Scott Flanders says the idea is to attract readers in their 20s to a magazine where the average reader's age is 35.

Is Playboy really so out of touch that they think putting Marge Simpson on the cover is going to attract young readers?
04:43 PM on 10/30/2009
if you think this is our of touch, then I guess you don't have any idea who's hefner's pick for the december issue :D

see the detailed prev: http://pinoytutorial.com/bestandworst/chelsea-handler-posed-for-december-issue-of-playboy

The article says:

"It's a first for the magazine ... but it's never had a cartoon character before."

That statement is incorrect.

Leroy Neiman's "Femlin" cartoon character has been featured on the cover of the magazine several times. For an example see here:

And what about Pam Anderson and Anna Nicole Smith? They may not have started that way, but they sure became cartoon characters!

It's a product; a cartoon. FOX authorized this to happen (yeah, like that's a shock, right Rup?).

It's funny. FOX broadcasting is full of crude shows ("FG", "AD", any number of live action sitcoms, etc) and yet FOX cable is full of commentators bashing the impact of media on kids and culture (I don't disagree with you, Bill, but that special you made a few years back was willful ignorance when keeping FOX out of the picture.)

Marge is pretty hot for a woman who's been married nearly 30 years and has 3 kids and a husband who won't grow up. Kudos to Matt Groening; keep it coming.

Her husband is autistic or has Asperger's Syndrome or something... not said to be said in a disparaging way, but maybe Homer is incapable of "growing up" like you suggest?

Oh, this is grand - I'm arguing over a cartoon character! ROFL... It's 6:39 and I'm sober too... (Note to society: Drinking really is bad for one's health...)

Marge has a great body.
07:38 AM on 10/10/2009
Why do I get the feeling that, sometime around 2035, we'll be seeing Maggie in this magazine?
12:42 AM on 10/10/2009
what makes marge hot is not her body but her sweet loving feminine attitude. it seems that trait is disappearing from american women these days.

my advice: always ask yourself -what would marge do?
01:24 AM on 10/10/2009
Ridiculous. Wonder if you've ever met a woman "world of warcraft", pretty hard to do with four and five hour video game marathons.
02:05 AM on 10/10/2009
four or five? i laugh at that. Ive done 20 hours without a break before. and ive met tons of women in warcraft and they love me bigtime.

This article is incorrect. Jessica Rabbit, of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," appeared on the cover of Playboy almost a decade ago.
