What's Your Reaction?

Before he was Don Draper, Jon Hamm worked behind the camera--as a set dresser on "those late night movies that appear on Cinemax," he told David Letterman Friday night.

"There's a certain amount of nakedtivity on these," Letterman pointed out. "Are you allowed to be there when that happens?"

"People tend to make up excuses for how important they are on the set," Hamm said. "It's a closed set so only vital personnel are there. Then you see the guy that runs the craft service thing kind of eating a hot dog and staring at it. And it's like, why does Jimmy need to be here?"

John Hamm is very handsome, but more than that he is a gentleman. If I were his mother (I'm old enough to be) I would be very proud of him, hot dogs and all.

My old job was wardrobe attendant at a strip club.

$100 a night.

Wasn't much but it was all I could afford to pay.

Pa-dum-pa.

Thanks ladies and germs. I'm here all week.

Thanks for the laugh. I'm still trying to figure out who Don Draper/Jon Hamm is. Okay, I Googled. Just as I thought, he's in that Mad Men series that only white people watch.

You have got ot watch the first and second episode, and you will be hooked, at least on Don Draper (Mr. Hamm's character).

Well, it's a good show. I have no idea what you're getting at. I think anyone who watched it would like it. It's not exactly "King of Queens" white.

What a stupid generalization. I have watched since the first episode, and just started watching the first season again while I watch the current season every Sunday. And I'm not an anomaly.

I love that joke. Woody Allen nailed that in 'What's New Pussycat'. It was his first screenplay, too.

Ladies, ladies, ladies. Mr. Hamm is not available.

Call me. I'll treat you right. Ciao, baby.

Hot dogs? I question the appropriateness of posting this clip on a site that children are likely to visit. There's only so much the parental controls on my PC can do.

I met a writer once. He told me he was a writer for one of these late night talk shows. I said, "Oh, you mean you write the stand up monologues." "No," he said, "I write the scripts for the guests."

Buyer be ware.

I waited on John Hamm earlier this year. He was having dinner with Elizabeth Moss and Fred Armison, and not only was he INCREDIBLY nice (as were they), but he left an enormous tip. He is a real gentleman.

It's so great to see him laugh! His character on Mad Men never smiles, much less laughs. He's so so so beautiful . . .

They should have an episode of Mad Men where Don and Sal come up with the idea for the Armour Hot Dogs jingle.
