This Is It

NEW YORK - The first song from the upcoming Michael Jackson music documentary "This Is It" made it's debut online early Monday morning on MichaelJackson.com.

According to The New York Times, Radio programmers said were told by Sony that they would be receiving Jackson's latest song late Sunday night. TMZ posted a leaked, 43-second clip of the song hours before its official release.

The Star-Ledger
describes "This Is It" as "a sweet, mid-tempo love song, with orchestral strings, a crisp beat, and creamy backing vocals by Jackson's brothers."

Jackson's fans could be hearing new music from the self-proclaimed King of Pop for some time to come. The chairman of the Columbia/Epic Label Group told The New York Times "We probably have at least 100 songs in varying degrees of being finished...And we think there probably is a lot more. We haven't gone into the archive to search it properly yet. It's just too complicated to do that."

"This Is It" plays during the closing sequence of "Michael Jackson's This Is It" and will be included on a companion two-disc CD set.

The documentary opens Oct. 28 for a two-week limited run and was built around rehearsal footage for Jackson's planned London concerts. He died in Los Angeles on June 25.

The CD features original album masters of some of Jackson's biggest hits, including "Thriller" and "Billie Jean." They're in the same sequence as they appear in the film.

Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009.

Lyrics to Michael Jackson's "This Is It"
This is it, here I stand
I'm the light of the world, I feel grand
Got this love I can feel
And I know yes for sure it is real

And it feels as though I've seen your face a thousand times
And you said you really know me too yourself [?]
And I know that you have got addicted with your eyes [?]
But you say you gonna live it for yourself. [?]

I never heard a single word about you
Falling in love wasn't my plan
I never thught that I would be your lover
C'mon baby, just understand

This is it, I can say,
I'm the light of the world, run away [?]
We can feel, this is real
Every time I'm in love that I feel

Michael Jackson "This Is It" Lyrics

And I feel as though I've known you since 1,000 years
And you tell me that you've seen my face before.
And you said to me you don't wnat me hanging round
Many times, wanna do it here before [?]

I never heard a single word about you
Falling in love wasn't my plan
I never thught that I would be your lover
C'mon baby, just understand

This is it, I can feel
I'm the light of the world, this is real
Feel my song, we can say
And I tell you I feel that way

I thank God for the return of "Real Music" with lyrics by real songwriters, and music, and a
"truly gifted singer named Michael Jackson. This is only the beginning....
The part of the linked article below that is relevant to me is this:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/12/arts/music/12michael.html

QUOTE:
"Sony has rights to release any music Mr. Jackson recorded while under contract. But since there could be as many as two albums’ worth of material made after that deal expired, around five years ago, other labels may also be able to cut deals, and the Jackson estate has held talks with
Universal about those recordings, according to people familiar with the discussions but not authorized to speak publicly."

Nice Song. Love the lyrics. Kinda catchy: "This is it, I can feel I'm the light of the world, this is real..." I'm going to be humming this song all day.

It's very sweet---MJ from long ago, before the maturing of his vocal powers and long before complex arrangements and engineering that we can hear in 'Invincible', and indeed without the refinements and presence of the movie soundtrack in the preview that precedes it inthizs video. It's catchy etc., and nobody could have sung it better. Although I don't think he would have released it now himself, even re-engineered this way, the fact that MJ once had a songwriting partnership going with Paul Anka is remarkable in itself, and shows the breadth of his generosity. So now, here is Mr. Anka today, showered with blessings and a nice chunk of change for his part in creating this song so long ago!

I kind of agree with you, in that people do have a hard time acknowledging extraordinary people, sitll after all are just people. My biggest gripe with people who complain about the attention Michael Jackson's death received, is this ONE man touched millions of lives all across the world on a "persona" l level with his music. That is something that should be both acknowledged and reflected upon. There have not been many "people" in modern times who have been able to do that.
Unfortunately, I am sure there will be so many people trying to cash in on the tragedy of his death. However, let's not let that diminish his amazing accomplishment.

Just think about what all these religions and preachers have been able to do with the life of Jesus Christ. I AM NOT comparing Michael to Jesus just using it as an analogy as fact that people find ways to make money off of anything that has affected a lot of people.

Yeah. Fine. You're comparing. Sorry. That's what you are doing. You're not undoing it by saying it's not what you're doing. That's as if I ended this comment by saying: I'm not being nasty. Cause I am. But you had it coming. Peace.

I guess the meaning of the word analogy is lost on you. I wanted to clarify that I was using Jesus Christ's life not as a comparison but as an analogy. I did not use the word "like" that would have defined it as a comparison. There is a difference you dufus. Take an English class.

Nothing special. If he was alive we'd all roll our eyes at this typical Michael sappy ballad.

Jealousy and hatred is such an ugly characteristic; however, you think you created the word open, liberal, rights for all, and being non-judgemental right? As long as it is something or someone you are interested in engaging or discussing.
HP, Please place MJ back on the entertainment Big New Page!
Katie and Jon is played!
No SkuddGobang, If he was alive, I would be trying to do everything I can to get a ticket to the O2 Arenaas I was attempting to do prior to his death! If Mj was alive I would only be thinking about the Pony; oh yes, that is all I'm thinking about now that he is decease!
MJ is hot as ever; he is still keeping us guessing and in a state of urgency in death.R.I.P. MJ; love you forever!

To me this song is a beautiful love poem. If only once in our lifetimes every one of us could experience the kind of love he talks about in his song...

It says at the top that he is "self proclaimed king of pop" Not true Liz taylor called him that and then the fans just caught on. He never once referred to himself as the king of pop. that was a given and well deserved title. As a lifetime MJ i will say this song sounds unfinished but that is what makes it good at the same time. The song is okay though. Cant wait for the movie!! : )

I guess there is no way that you can't separate personal from professional. I really am sick of the whole Michael Jackson personal life crap and have been for years.

All I know is I have never followed and will not follow the messenger but will follow the message for my own life.

The things Michael Jackson sings about like heal the world and Janet Jackson sings about taking care of the Homeless on the street. I don't make these people my Gods but I do live and try my best to live "The Message." And for anyone out there that follows any messenger you will always find yourself deeply disappointed.

It's a pleasant song, but it feels unfinished; more of a demo than a complete Michael Jackson product. That being said, the vocals and composition are very retro. This is like something that could have been released on the Jacksons' 1978 album " Destiny" (I'm thinking specifically of the song "Bless His Soul".)

As for the film, I'm still uncomfortable with the way the entire project has been pushed onto the still mourning public. It'll probably be a hit because 1)It's only in theaters for 2 weeks (ahead of the "special edition" DVD release,) 2)Fans will want to witness MJ in action one more time and 3)The general public has a fascination with dead celebs.

I am a huge fan of MJ, I have love and respect for him as an artist and a human being, but I won't be contributing $$$ to the producers of "This Is It."

Apparently, this IS an old song, possibly about 30 years old. I guess if the tour was called "Sunset Driver," they could've polished up THIS gem, my favorite unreleased MJ track:

*sigh* The greed of record execs never ceases to amaze me. I'm REALLY not going to pay to see this now.

What a shame, I hate you will miss it; release demo CD of deceaed artist has been going on sense the invention of the ability to store and preserve an artist body of work like painter, sculptures, writer, poets, etc...Sony and MJ Estate which benefit his children, charities, and family is not doing anything evil or bad.
It is a way to immortalize MJ's artist legacy for his family & fans; and, he is be introduced to other potential younger fans who may not have not been aware of his work in the past. I will support him but we each must stand on our own convictions!

I think the only people who can not admit Michael Jackson was a Musical Genius and touch more lives with his songs are probably the 28% of the people who still approved of George W. Bush.

It always seems to come back to 28% of the sheep will follow a man that took us off a cliff!!!!!!!!

A "musical genius"?? This song looks like it was written by a 9 year old. And NO, I can't stand George Bush. Perhaps you meant "musical paedofile", floon.

You do realize there have been actual geniuses in the history of music, don't you? Not marketing geniuses, not gifted dancers who invented a fun move, no, geniuses. Only five or so. Look them up.
