And his approval rating is now in the cra.pper. He just thought he'd become some passive caretaker Governor on the take, and he had the money to force a recall - - Wealth warping the machinery of state.

The only reason he's still governor is that noone wants the job of fixing his collapsed state, and noone is ob.noxious enough to push a recall like he did. Schwartzenegger is an idlot.

Not likely we'd be having a "day" for him if he weren't homosexual.

Also not likely the recognition of other "same sex" marriages in other states will hold up in California as they don't recognize such in their own state.

Well now they legally have to, that is what it means when it says he signed Bill, it means it already passed.

Are you serious?
12:43 AM on 10/15/2009
Uh... that's what this new law does. It makes California legally obligated to follow Article lV of the US Constitution by recognizing ALL marriages in America.

If Arnold can do it, so can Obama, someday.

Arnie was always a moderate Republican. He's also fairly shrewd and notes the direction in which winds are blowing. While I have not been delighted with all of his decisions and efforts here in California, I do believe he is honestly trying to do what he thinks is the right thing, overall. The fact that Arnie works for free, yes, he has refused the salary from day one, shows some evidence of honesty. Let's face it, he is wealthy, CA is broke, he did the right thing by not taking the pay. How many politicians are willing to work in the face of a maelstorm of criticism and crisis, and do it for free?
06:09 AM on 10/13/2009
I'm confused now. Is Ahnuld still a Republican or have they disowned him for his immoral, anti-family values stance?
11:35 AM on 10/13/2009
No they have divorced him because he didn't reduce the amount of taxes they pay to zero. The republicans here don't care much, pro or con about gay rights, unless they can use it as a wedge issue. For them bucks are the bottom line.

So many things about this makes me feel fantastic, but knowing that it is really really REALLY upsetting the christian right makes me ecstatic!

As a Gay man I like what Arnold's done. As a cynic, it tells me he's going to run for senator but who cares, as long as he's done the right thing. In regards to the legality of civil unions and weddings even, Schwartzenegger has done more than Obama. All we get from Obama is the hoplessness of hope and a lot about overtunring DADT and a negativve stance on marriage. It doesn't matter to me if the politician is a republican or democrat, as long as they do something, really do something, about equality for Gay-Americans.

When people voice their concern for gun rights, no one blinks and eye. When human beings voice their needs for civil rights, it's a debate.

as ever for my gay bff, too little, too late.

gay americans pay the same taxes, obey the same red lights and stop signs as everyone else. why they must be singled out and forced to beg for the things everyone else takes for granted... just another shameful part of american life...

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Many steps have been made - to ignore and ridicule all of that just because everything is not yet perfect - that's stupid. Great way to tell people not to bother helping.

He would, if he could - but he is not the legislature - your representative and your senator in the California state assembly are the ones in charge. Arnold can try as much as he likes, without their approval he can't do a thing. Write your senator and your representative to introduce the bill to repeal Prop 8 - Arnold would sign it on a fly.

Did you follow the prop 8 debate / disaster in CA? Blame does bigot voters who are responsible for the discrimination because of se*ual orientation.
09:21 PM on 10/12/2009
The Governor cannot simply repeal prop 8 (or any other prop for that matter). You should know this.

It's up to the people of the state.

Sure glad that this "important" gay married act or whatever is
taking up so much of the news.

Of all the important things going on, this has to top them all.
Hopefully, this will make them happy and part of the world can
get on with the frivolous every day things that make the world turn.

Wonder what will be next on the agenda that the politicians will have
to worry about that will affect their elections.
Just goes to show you...the squeaky wheel gets the grease"
or sometimes it just makes a lot of noise when nobody pays any
attention to it.
08:56 PM on 10/12/2009
It's a small article... if you don't think it matters, why'd you feel obliged to post on it?

For the record, "they" pay the same taxes as anyone else. "They" should have equal rights.
09:35 PM on 10/12/2009
Lot of people live together too and are not complaining about
paying taxes....this is an excuse for a larger reason and if we don't know that, then we are fooling ourselves.

If money is the only important thing, then why are they so
adamant about getting married.
