Senator Armani? Designer Nominated To Fill Italian Seat

Giorgio Armani is often called the king of the runway, but he may soon add a different political title before his well-known name: Senator. On Monday, Santo Versace sent a letter to Italian President Giorgio Napolitano nominating Armani to the Italian Senate. The president has the power to appoint certain members who are recognized for their lifetime achievements. According to the Wall Street Journal, Versace wrote, "Armani is the best candidate to receive the nominee for senator for life," and "the image of our country would've been very different without" Armani's contributions to fashion. Versace himself is a member of the lower house of Parliament and of Mr. Berlusconi's party.

He will fill that senate with fashion of the highest order. All men will have to wear those little pointed Italian loafers and tight fitting pants with appropriate bulges at the crotch (natural or rolled up socks). All of their shirts will be opened at the collar to show their natural or artificial chest hair. Armani will make Spanish machismo look tame in comparison to an Armani Italian senate.
