Steve Jobs

TG Daily :

Junior Achievement surveyed US kids aged 12-17 and asked them to choose the entrepreneur they most admired from a list provided. Surprisingly, teens chose a business legend from the technology sector over fashionistas, Facebook and even the Queen of Daytime. Steve Jobs was selected over Tony Hawk, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Kimora Lee Simmons, Oprah Winfrey and Mark Zuckerberg.

I would have picked Kate Goslin, Flavor Flav and Paula Abdul. (in that order) .. and then Kimora and Ashley.

Kudos to twenty year olds being able to pick someone outside of their twenties. (They don't exactly have open minds) but Jobs has always been too self-admiring and culty for me.

The poll is of 12-17 year old and you comment "They don't exactly have open minds," was pretty narrow-minded yourself. I actually have found that the generation coming through the high schools right now are the most open-minded in history.

Envy the size of Jupiter wreaks from your words. He's a fantastic boss to work for--twice I've had the opportunity to be an employee at his companies. I would have made it three if I had taken some time at PIXAR.

This one is nothing more than a Lucky Charlatan-Leach. Under the "Influence" from Goldman Sacks Umbrela.

I'm 61 and would have voted for Jobs out of that list myself. These are savvy kids.

@kbkw211 I wouldn't say Oprah hasn't done anything. She came from rags and child abuse to building her own multi-billion dollar empire. That's pretty impressive. Her story may help to inspire many underprivileged kids, especially young girls.

Problem with that short term memory?

;-)

What short-term memory? Oprah has given away millions to charities, helped young girls, and done one helluva lot more than you or I could hope to.

As trivial as this story seems on the surface, if Apple is making this impression on 12-17 year olds, it's really gotta make the people at Microsoft worry. Someday these teens are going to be running companies and IT departments. The same reason Microsoft is fretting about the majority of college campus laptops being Mac-based. Apple is creating life-long buying habits that could dynamically shift the Mac-PC struggle.

Even as unapologetic and long time Apple FanMan I am surprised by those glass devil horns Steve Jobs has sprouted in the photo. That's some real innovation there.

How can anyone compare Oprah and the Olsen twins to Jobs? Steve Jobs has actually done something.

agreed. steve jobs changed the world by marketing the first home computer that actually did something useful. everything we do with our computers today is a result of what he and steve wozniac built in their garage over 30 years ago. both those guys are living legends.

How on earth is this surprising? Every product apple has produced in the past few years is geared toward their generation.
