Senator Michael Bennet became the lastof the major state-wide candidates to announce his third quarter fund-raising totals Tuesday. As expected, Bennet widened his fund-raising lead over Democratic and Republican opponents.

From the Denver Post:

The campaign raised just more than $1 million from 1,641 donors. About 72 percent of those donors call Colorado home, according to campaign stats.

The AP adds:

Bennet's brisk fundraising pace puts him ahead of his many challengers. But the race has gotten more complicated since the last campaign disclosure.

Democrat Andrew Romanoff of Denver plans to report more than $250,000. And on the Republican side, former Lt. Gov. Jane Norton will report more than $550,000 raised last quarter.

Bennet is exactly the typical politician we no longer need. They pretend to be on people's side while voting for thieving classes. The fact that he is successful at raising money ought to be a tell tale indicator what kind of "representative" he is going to make.

Those "family connections" sure pay off don't they? It'll be interesting to see how many of the actual $$$ were from outside of Colorado. The majority would be my guess.

Michael Bennet is a reliable vote for the Obama agenda. There are no discernable policy differences between Bennet and Romanoff. Bennet is a proven fundraiser outraising Romanoff by 4 or 5 times this quarter alone. (Even though Romanoff wasn't accepting donations for the entire quarter, he should have been able to raise more than the $200-250k from his supposedly ardent supporters.)

Romanoff's primary challenge prevents the national DNC from providing national funding and staffing for this race making it much more difficult for the Dems to win in November.

I'm all for primary challenges, but only when there is a clear difference between the candidates.
Romanoff should withdraw from the race, particularly if he can't raise impressive money in the quarter ending 12/31/08.

A primary will expose the real differences in philosophy between the candidates. Don't assume that voters know what they need to about these two fairly young men yet. It's like peeling the layers of an onion.

Bennet will get the donations; Romanoff will get the votes.

Although 72% of the donors come from Colorado, how much of the Million was contributed by Coloradoans? I heard much of the million came from outside donors ( and how much of that was Financial firms and other big business interests?)
