Lottery Ticket

AOL:

The nation's two biggest lottery games are talking about cross-selling tickets in U.S. lottery jurisdictions with the potential for a national lottery, the head of a lottery association said Tuesday.

Powerball is played in 31 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Mega Millions is played in 12 states. The consortium behind Mega Millions and the Urbandale, Iowa-based Multi-State Lottery Association, which runs Powerball, have agreed in principle to cross-sell tickets for both games beginning next year, officials said.

Wasn't a National Lottery the plan conservatives came up with to "save" Social Security?

Actually $100 million taxed at 50% is worth $50 million!

Thought you needed a bit of help with the arithmetic.

there ya go. National false hope. Didnt they try this in Mexico a while back, a national lottery to give the people false hope in a failed economic atmosphere controlled and destroyed by the greed rich? Yeah, how'd that work out for them?? Oh it didnt did it. They are coming across the border to work for pennies here in the US. The same is going to happen here. Except whose borders will we cross to to find jobs for pennies an hour?

The wealth gap will widen to levels never before imagined while the middle class ceases. Our politicians need to do more to ensure equality.

good articles; http://bit.ly/1NkbAn

A person making 60,000 pays 20,000 of it in various taxes. A person making a million or more has a tax rate of 30% compared to 90% decades ago.

Regardless of the odds of winning, millions will be standing in line waiting to buy their ticket to nirvana and that multimilion dollar house.

Guess I'd better get in line...maybe I can start a $3.6 billion dollar profit venture too.

The average lottery winner is bankrupt in 5 years.

A bunch of states don't even have a lottery so it should be quite obvious that there wont be a "national lottery" administered by Barack "the islamic shock" Obama used to fund madrassas in the United States or whatever the hell the other posters are talking about.

Wyoming being one of them. Our "nanny government" literally does not want us to spend a dollar on a lottery ticket that "should" be spent on a bottle of milk. Thanks. So we travel out of state to buy them. nice going.

I read the article.

This item has a misleading headline ... it is not a "National" lottery, It is a "Nationwide" lottery.

Please disregard my previous posts and comments.

(I still don't buy lottery tickets, 'tho._

New motto: "Hope for Change"

As in ... "We'll let you HOPE to be a millionaire for the CHANGE in your pocket."

It seems the only constant in the Obama Administration is a lack of courage. Let’s start with revenues.

He decried the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy yet they’re still with us. Hundreds of billions going to the wealthiest 5% while the majority of the lower 95% watch as their wages fall and their jobs disappear.

He promised Government health care without raising taxes and claimed we’ll use savings from Medicare and Medicaid without affecting benefits. If the savings were there then you’re obligated to do it anyway with or without health care and the savings should go to the deficit or remain in the Medicare Trust Fund. You can’t be serious about the budget if you move one deficit to another.

Here are some ideas that have also been floated:

A tax on soft drinks
A National sales tax
A value added tax (which is a multi tiered sales tax)
Now a National lottery

A lottery is a tax on the mathematically illiterate.

If Obama needs monies for Wall Street, Wars, a bloated military, Homeland Security boondoggles, the stimulus, health care, contracts for Blackwater and Halliburton then he should add it all up and submit a tax plan to pay for it. Otherwise he should either cut programs or have his name changed to George W. Bush and borrow it.

And now you blame Obama for the lottery. I have been playing the lottery for more than 25 years, I'm pretty sure Obama didn't have anything to do with it. The lottery is a choice, which mean if you want to play you play, if you don't want to play you don't play. Next I guess you'll blame Obama for Day light saving time.

I only read the caption but it sounds like their going to expand powerball to all 50 states. Just keep in mind you have to play to lose. So if you never play you never lose!

What? The United States is such a banana republic that we have to raise funds through a meaningless lottery? How many multi-million dollar lottery winners do you know? Selling the American Dream, which is now meaningless.

I can see the advertisement now: "The American Dream, only available through United States Lotto Corporation for $20." And now the fine print: "Odds of winning are equivalent to you being a Wall Street billionaire."
