What's Your Reaction?
Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck mocked his cable news competitors Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews Wednesday afternoon on his Fox News show.

"The president has an entire network devoted to singing his praises," Beck said of MSNBC. "There's a guy on at night I love, and he's like Shakespearean. He is waxing poetic about his oratory skills, writing soliloquies," he said, showing off his impression of Olbermann.

"And then another guy's like, 'I've got a thrill going up my leg' when they just hear him speak." he said of Matthews. "It's incredible!"

Beck also knocked the network news broadcasts and "Saturday Night Live," claiming they haven't been tough on Obama.

Whatever you think about Beck, it was Matthews who gushed about the thrill running up his leg. That comment wasn't going to be left untouched.

And truly, whatever you think about Olbermann, an honest evaluation would come up with drama queen. Face it, if Ben Affleck mocks you, there may be a ring of truth there.

Beck does not have what it takes to impersonate any real man!

This is good news, it means MSNBC is getting into pretty good ratings territory. Keep talking about Keith, the free advertisement is always welcomed. Poor Glenda, no wonder the tears are flowing.

Beck does a reasonable Craig Ferguson over-emotes Shakespeare, Gabby Hayes (or was it Walter Brennan), and Kermit the Frog imitation....but where were Olberman and Chris Matthews?

Good call. I actually smiled at his Kermit part. Has anyone noticed that Beck's head is getting wider and shorter by the day? It's adapting to the 16:9 wide-screen ratio nicely.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/10/15/793824/-GOP-Senator-Jon-Kyl-Apparently-Hates-the-Unemployed!

Republican Senator Jon Kyl single handedly stopped a quick vote in the Senate that would have passed a bill to fund another unemployment extension and help MILLIONS of Americans whose unemployment benefits have been depleted. What's worse, Senator Kyl still has not removed his objection and allowed a vote by the Senate to pass this important legislation. Senator Kyl wanted to have time to look at the proposal and consider possible Republican amendments, and also ask the independent Congressional Budget Office to estimate its cost. Wake up Senator Kyl, millions of Americans are trying to keep their homes, put food on the table, and take care of their families!!

The Democrat Majority's failed effort to quickly pass a bill followed the unveiling of a compromise bill by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and key allies. The bill would give all states an extra 14 weeks of jobless benefits, plus an extra six weeks for states with unemployment rates of 8.5 percent or greater. However, Senator Kyl objected to the funding mechanism for the legislation.

You can direct your thank you letters to Senator Jon Kyl, representing the best interests of you, the unemployed American worker, as is typical of the Republican party.

So, you've already started your campaign, eh? Why don't you point out what our current deficit is ($1.4 TRILLION) and how this bill would add to it? Why don't you point out that, rather than bailing out banks and criminal investment companies, the money could have been used to pay for this very bill?

Best of luck with your campaign. You will need it.

As soon as you acknowledge the source of this country's financial problems: GOP friends and family.

The Bush administration had turned a $250 million surplus into a $367 million deficit before Bush signed the $700 million bail out.

That totals just over $1 trillion so before you go blaming this administration for being in power while we have a $1.4 trillion deficit, just remember who is responsible for 71.4% of it.

How much did the illegal, useless war, cost? Before you start talking about trillions you should refresh your memory.

Where are the stories about Olberman imitating O'Reilly? Where are the stories about Olberman mocking Beck? This question is "plural" because he has done it hundreds, if not thousands, of times.

(and, actually, Beck was a better imitator than Olberman)

Olberman has mocked O'Reilly for years; he has mocked Beck's crying many, many times. So, where was Danny Shea (the author of this article) then?

I know the HuffPost is privately owned and can write/print whatever it pleases, but pointing out hypocrisy on the right while ignoring hypocrysy on the left is less than journalistic.

Actually I have read a number that said his impersonation of Olbermann was good and I thought it was very good.

But then, as Beck is a much better actor and comedian than Olbermann, it is not surprising. I have seen his one man show and he is a great actor, comedian and entertainer. It is when he wants us to take everything he says as gospel truth that I draw the line.

If I had the choice between watching Beck or Olbermann on stage, I would opt for Beck every time. That being said, both have recently involved themselves in "projects".

Becks was to push the 9/12 march, saying he wanted everyone to feel and act like we did on 9/12/01. Well, we were very united behind our President, and our Government on 9/12/01. I do not recall people in Washington, DC with anti-Bush signs and worse. And, where was Mr. Beck on 09/12/2009?? Following events in his studio!!

Olbermann is pushing a big effort to hold free healthcare clinics in four towns and cities and has raised a lot of money toward it from his viewers - albeit he has only 30% of Beck's following.

So, Beck for entertainment; Olbermann for sincerity - at least about the healthcare issue.

Olbermann is channeling O'Reilly, just like Rush was channeling Clinton in his interview last week.
Whenever Olbermann reads an O'Reilly quote, he starts channeling. He pretty much has to, because to read it in his 'own' voice would make O'Reilly sound way too intelligent, increasing his IQ several-fold.

The fact that fox news has more viewers says nothing as to the quality of their content. It merely shows there are a bunch of angry old white southerners who watch fox news regularly becuase unlike liberals, they have no other outlet that will feed their misconceptions and conspiracy theories. Further KO often ranks right up there with the targeted group of viewers while most people who watch Fox are over 55, stuck in both their political ideology and consumer shopping habits and thus I would not be suprised if Fox generated less money in ads despite having many more total viewers. Just look at the ads that run on OReilly's show and what few advertisers still remain on Beck's > they are often for AARP, HoverRounds, or bathtubs that provide for easier ingress and degress for old people.

Then why is Fox online readership the lowest. MSNBC is more than double of Fox and not mention who won the election in a landlside against Fox and Repubs.
