What's Your Reaction?

When President Obama mentioned Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal at his New Orleans town hall Thursday, the name was met with a resounding chorus of boos.

"No, no, Bob is doing a good job," the president told the crowd at the University of New Orleans. "Bobby, if it makes you feel any better i get that all the time," he continued, and the crowd laughed. More seriously, he added, "Even though we have our differences politically, one thing I will say is that this person is working hard on behalf of the state, and you gotta give people credit for working hard." This time, the audience cheered.

Watch:

The president promised New Orleans residents that his administration would never forget the city.

Obama noted that sewers and roads damaged by Hurricane Katrina still need to be repaired. Houses and hospitals are still vacant, he said. And schools and neighborhoods are waiting to thrive again.

"I promise you this," Obama said. "Together we will rebuild this region and we will build it stronger than before." He announced a new working group to coordinate restoration projects across the Gulf Coast.

The president also touted the progress made in the city since he became president: Reconstruction projects have moved forward that had stalled due to disagreements over whether the state or federal government would foot the bill. And his administration has sent more than $1.4 billion in additional federal aid toward repairing and rebuilding Louisiana.

I posted this in an earlier thread, but thought I post it in the open (at the every butt end) here, too.

Conservatives aren't even fans of Bobby Jindal right now. Even if they were, the house wasn't just packed with fans of President Obama's, they were people who had a tie to UNO, a university that had its budget slashed at the end of the last academic year because of the Jindal administration. These are instructors who can draw a straight line between lower grades this semester compared to last and a massive budget cut from Baton Rouge. They were always going to boo the governor. Had it been a Democrat who had instigated huge institutional cuts, they would have booed.

The first thing he built was a coalition to be elected President. Now he is re-building our economy destroyed by the Bush thieves & the military stretched to beyond its limits by the Bush NeoCons & our national prestige around the world by disavowing the torture policy of the Cheney/Bush years. I could go on but I think you get the point.

Since our economy was destroyed over the previous 8-years and our military stretched beyond imagination, it will take a long time to rebuild and resolve the problems.

Did they give the people their undamaged houses back from which they had been evicted on account of being guilty of being black?

So he went to NO had a TownHall Pep-Rally, talked to young boy who asked a stupid question, and I THINK I read about Obama asking for a GROUP TO STUDY the damage that still remains in NO...WT, why didn't he go there and visit the surrounding areas? Where's the PHOTO'S of that, WHERE? NO WHERE, because I don't he went there for anyother reason than to have another PEP-RALLY and TO FLAP HIS JAWS AGAIN...and a PHOTO-OP. I had high HOPES yesterday that he was going to CHANGE INTO THE MAN WE VOTED FOR. BUT NOPE, that's not the case, MORE OF THE SAME...I'd HOPED he was going to visit the damage and send a message back that there would be JOBS...BUT NOPE, MORE OF THE SAME, HE'S AN EMPTY SUIT...or just another CHEERIO EMPEROR...What A GAS BAG.

??? I doubt you voted for him. "MORE OF THE SAME" give me a break. He pledged an additional 1.4 billion to those regions, that's not Monopoly money.

What should he have done? Gone to do a photo op by a destroyed home? This administration is trying to create jobs trust me. That would immediately start solving many of the problems they face. His handling of banks and wall street is definately discouraging so far but he's been president for 10 months. The job losses that have happened were unnavoidable considering the state of our economy, whoever would have been president would have dealt with the same thing.

The bankers, high yield traders and Corporate CEO's are the people you should be looking to. They are the ones who played "Reaganomics" with our livelihoods and lost.

No, the gasbag was Shrub and his good friend Brownie. Remember the photo op with the helicopter after Katrina that he did? Took the chopper away from rescue efforts to have a little looky-loo.

I suppose you-don't give E for Effort, T for trying, S for Sincerity, V for Vision or L for Leadership.

No I guess you would rather have L for Lying, T for Torture. W for Warmonger, or I for Incompetent,

And if you say he is Gas Bag, he sure run circles around the previous occupant of the oval office who gave absolutely nothing but well nothing. Except crying Mothers, Fathers.Siblings. Wives, Husbands and children weeping for love ones who will never hold kiss and love them because they are gone.

Gee...you sound so bitter. Where is your sense of reasoning?...are you aware that President Obama was sworn in on January 20, 2009? Next question...are you aware of the state of the economy at that time? Next question...Are you aware of the MAJOR oppositions that he faces only because of the so-call patriots that are BITTER because a black man was duly elected by the American people? Last question...this is America...why didn't you run to be president of the United States...since you seem to know what and how things should be done?
Please allow me to enlighten you in regards to the young man that asked the simple question "why do people hate you" is typical with children that are NOT taught to hate AND the little boy was NOT planted as you so wrongly assumed...they are innocent and loving babies that just do not understand what they are seeing on TV with people like yourself. Now on the other hand, people like you teach your little ones to hate...we have seen them holding hate signs, thereby passing the evilness down from one generation to another...shame on you and the hate that you represent!

I can see why Jindal got booed. Bobby Jindal is not doing his job, he's too busy trying to be a Rebublican kiss as/s. Hurricane Katrina happened 4 years ago and the President have to keep visiting? What is the Governor doing? That's just inexcusable. The people of Louisiana made a bad move when they elected a Republican Governor, they don't care about people. Republicans work for big business, that's why they're dubbed the big business party. People, when will you get it? It's not like they hide it, it's in your face.

Jindal was not the governor at the time Katrina hit. and the local and state gov, are first responders. who at the time were all democrats.

I guess that's what happens when you elect a 36 yo Governor with limited experience just positions that were given to him because he kissed the Republicans as/s all the way to the top. Now he must pay up and he's using Louisiana to enrich his big business buddies.

Jindal has been Govenor for almost 2 years. I visited New Orleans 2 years ago and things were in progress (when the Dems where in office), they just had to get the violence under control. But people were impatient. 2 years later and progress is at a standstill. Jindal owns it but he has brought nothing to the state. Louisiana would have been better off leaving the Dems in.

Yes what you are saying is correct the previous state administration was Democrats.

However in case you don't understand the working of the electoral system.

The person who take the oath of office as the chief
administrator of the State is responsible for the State from the time that the oath is completed.

We saw the delayed response by our government...Bush was celebrating McCain's birthday! Jindal was outspokened about his refusal to extend unemployment benefits to a struggling state and to accept the stimulas money...HOWEVER he did accept it and gave it out with his name on it as a gift from his office. That is the Bobby Jindal that was booded!

Did any HP monitor/editor proofread the "Quick Read" of this blog? When the word, 'I', is used as a pronoun, it's written in caps, aka big letters, not lower case, aka little letters. Please correct the "Quick Read" of this blog at once. Thanks.

You see, the difference between having class- complementing an advisary, and being classless- yelling: "You lie!' in a forum not suited for talk as such.

Now, you know- and knowing is half the battle.
