Michelle Obama Wears J. Crew In Miami, Mocks Husband's Salsa Skills (PHOTOS)

FLOTUS Michelle Obama addressed students at Miami-Dade College on Thursday, where she said public service is becoming "cool." She also took a shot at her husband's salsa moves:

And I also want to thank someone who I got to party with on Tuesday -- (laughter) -- and I think you exaggerate by saying we could win any salsa contest. I might be able to, but I don't know about -- (laughter and applause.) Dr. Eduardo Padron, President of Miami Dade College, thank you for us hosting us here today.

WATCH the first family dance at the White House Fiesta Latina event on Tuesday night.

The first lady wore a floral v-neck dress with a pale pink cardigan by J. Crew.

HP, we've all had our fun in this thread, but I believe this thread has exhausted its possibilities. We've veered off-topic, and yes I've contributed to the diversion, and honestly, there's nothing left to be said. I don't know what the time limit is before a thread is closed to new comments, but I think this thread has ran its course. Just my opinion, not trying to dic tate.

OK, I finally saw the video after hearing so much about it everywhere I read. Here is my opinion, and only my opinion.

Michelle indeed froze Obama out, with a smile on her face, so not as to look so conspicuous. Obama, knew she was doing that, but didn't look at any one for empathy, he looke down, which tells me he didn't like what she did, even if she tried to pass it off as a joke.

She may have done it to tease him, I don't know her motive, but it backfired and we each see what we see.

Not a bash, just an observation. And only my opinion.

There are lots of little exchanges like this between them. If anyone thinks there is never a rocky moment in any marriage, you might want to think again. I'm not saying their entire marriage is rocky, but in my opinion, there are always ups and downs in every marriage. This is really average behavior for them as much as anyone else.

Anyone who says his or her marriage is perfect, and without disagreement is always getting his or her own way. Just my opinion.

Jozzie, posting the same thing under all your IDs doesn't change anything. You're an established Michelle Obama h@ter. YAWN.

I'm just going to laugh at the hens from here on out. I've come to the conclusion that the vast majority fantasize about her husband, so they will attribute all sorts of demeaning characteristics to her. They're not even worth more than an LOLThat's a sad life to live, looking at everything through a negative lens. From now on I'm just going to laugh at the so-called body language experts and take them for what they are: jealous hens.

Hey Blonde! I seen it twice this weekend, too, and she was clearly ignoring him even when he motioned to her. Insecured & deviant! You would think she was mature enough to handle her husbands' gregarious mannerism. There's definitely a personality glitch, there.
04:44 PM on 10/19/2009
LOL!(snark)
04:49 PM on 10/19/2009
watched it twice, did you? talk about being obsessed with another person's life! you're the same kook who claims she cornered several male friends and showed them pictures of michelle's clothes to prove that she's not dressed properly.

if you had a life of your own, you wouldn't work so hard to prove there's something wrong with michelle's. regardless of what she's like, you don't have a chance with her husband. accept that and move on. lol.

Look under First Lady Remarks, you get a great view of her dress here. Wonderful speech as well.

I really like Michelle's fashon sense.

Where is all this hatred for the First Lady coming from? What has she personally done to some of you? My goodness, she's angry, jealous, insecure, etc. She doesn't deserve what she has, never worked for it, etc. Wow! And no, you don't have to like the Obamas, but some of you go overboard with the nastiness and ha tefulness. The topic could be about her clothes, but some of you stray off- topic and demean her character and worthiness. That's a bit much. And before anyone accuses me of being a sychophant, I'm not by any means. I don't agree with all of her husband's policies and beliefs, his stance on gay marriage being one. I definitely don't give a thumbs up to every ensemble that First Lady Michelle wears, but there's a respectful way of commenting on it if you choose to. For instance, I didn't care for that one ensemble she wore, I believe it was in London, which was very colorful to say the least. But hey, good for her. As she says, she wears what she wants and what makes her happy, and I appreciate that. As long as she's fully clothed, it's okay. However, and I remember this well, some of you, and you know who you are, were extremely ha teful and abusive with your comments.

2nd part: So yes, I'm going to defend anyone who I feel is being unfairly portrayed, whether they are public figures or someone I'm acquainted with in real life. What's sad is, as soon as I saw the dance while watching it on Live Stream, I knew people were going to pounce on it, misinterpret, and attempt to tear the First Lady down. I'm not a perfect individual by any means, I can be critical at times, but some of you take it to a whole 'nother level. If the First Lady displeases you so much, perhaps it's best to take a breather from her threads in the interest of your well-being.

I have heard that the soap opera genre is dying. I guess this thread is where all the fans have gone. I must admit that until Pres. Clinton's private life became public fodder I never gave a moment's thought to any Presidential marriage..As long as whoever is president does not have torment in his personal life that affects his job..who cares ? I would rather read about Mrs. O's fashion choices, most of which I have liked, others were not to my taste, but she keeps it fresh and interesting, lots to talk about there. As to the dance episode, I always think that entertainers who try to involve the audience are showing a lack of confidence in their ability to hold the audiences' attention..Unless, it's leading a conga line, she should have left him alone..

Or she should have pulled both Flotus and Potus to dance together and do the salsa. That would have been a lot of fun to watch.

Thanks! Great speech. I need to try and hunt down the rest of it. She is such an inspiration to me.

Okay, I'm all caught up now. It's safe to say no one on this site knows for certain what the Obamas' marriage is like, unless you are either the First Lady or the President. All of this projection: Michelle is jealous, angry, insecure, is slightly de mented. You simply have no proof of either of those qualities, she has not publicly exhibited any of those. Quite the contrary in fact. I recall the President actually saying that Michelle is smarter than him! In his second book, he is very complimentary of his wife, stating that if he ever had to run against her for a political office, she would beat him without much difficulty. He stated some other additional things, but I won't go into detail here. Rather he believes that really, I have no way of knowing, because guess what? I'm not him nor am I close to him! See how that works? The difference is, I'm just going to take each of them at their words and actions. They have both acknowledged a rough patch in their marriage that they were able to work through. Guess what? All marriages have ups and downs! According to them, not anonymous posters on the Internet, they committed themselves to strengthening their marriage, and from all indications, they appear to have suceeded.

Also, to those who says the First Lady needs to be aware of how to conduct herself in public life, this is not her first rodeo. I'm sure she is quite aware of how to conduct herself, but I'm sure she thanks you for your concern!(snark) I'm going to end on this note: Michelle is still the First Lady, according to the President's OWN words, not mine, she is the love of his life and the rock of their family. Nothing any of you gossiping hens or roosters can say on this site or elsewhere will change that. Commit yourself to bettering your own lives versus trying to tear down others.

The j.crew NYC flagship store on Madison is full of classy upscale grown women buying their clothes. You can style it young or more mature. I've been a fan a long time-it was for a while very very young and cheap but I think they are doing a much better job in the last year or two. Some of the collection clothes are expensive too! But they do have a great sale site on line.

j crew is geared towards the boyish type of figure. their clothes are not made for fuller figured, normal women. i think this is why their looks dont do MO justice. when MO wears michael kors, she gets it right. his cuts are designed for women of all shapes. she looks phenomenal in kors.

i wear an 6-8 and have a hard time with j crew on my body type, i dont know how anything j crew makes fits MO. and i dont mean that as an insult. im serious. their clothes are made straight with no shape to the body. well made though, better than gap or banana republic.

They make sizes Petite thru Sixteen. I wear a 10-12, I find plenty that fits. I'm not pear shaped or have a big bust so yes I guess that if that is the case their styles would probably not fit everybody. They just are very creative with the styles and I've always been a big fan, so I guess I'm pretty loyal.

Not suggesting you are pear shaped or large busted!! Just that I am pretty straight medium figured, and their stuff generally fits. I tweak at a tailor a little too.

The First Lady need not to dress -down her look with those cheap j. crew clothes. They are designed for teen-agers. Designers are best suited for the First Lady, The fabric is better, and she looks best when wearing tailored-fitted clothing.

No Olive. j. crew is a rip-off of Ralph Lauren. I prefer originals.
08:59 PM on 10/16/2009
I completely disagree. J. Crew clothes are not "cheap," nor are they particularly inexpensive. For my budget, which is not small, they are modestly priced, good quality, everyday fashion. I don't want to wear designer clothes around the house and out to the store. And I doubt many teenagers shop there - it is too expensive for most of them. It appeals to 20, 30, and 40 year olds and an occasional daughter.

Cassandra, have you visited a J. Crew lately?

I don't think that the first lady is consistently spot-on in her fashion choices, however, I do like that she mixes everyday with designer clothes.

Few of us want to run around all day - work, shop, school, doctor's office, etc. in a Chanel suit.

It was so funny when the POTUS danced with Thalia...The FLOTUS just wouldn't look at him afterwards. I kind of didn't get it...but then I am not married so....I still don't really get why she wouldn't look at him.
