What's Your Reaction?

Last month, two ACORN employees were caught on tape advising a couple posing as a prostitute and pimp to lie about her profession in order to qualify for housing benefits and launder her earnings. This encounter was sent-up on last night's episode of "South Park" in which the adorable Butters starts a "kissing company" and ends up pimping for a dozen prostitutes. Butters and his "ladies" go to ACORN to try to get a housing grant, which gets rebuffed at first but granted once the little pimp recognizes one of his clients in a position of power.

I liked this episode too and most of it had nothing to do with ACORN. Yes, the show are hit and miss. I can't stand some and others are great. Overall I'm glad they are around. BTW I am no Republican and they are not either.

i re-watched this episode last night. i do not think the purpose of the episode was to skewer acorn, that was just an added bonus to add to the hilarity. the real people skewered were men and the fact they will do it with just about anybody and to show the absurdity and misogyny of pimps.

this was a half hour of man bashing and you all thought it was about acorn.

Which means they failed at their jobs, since there's ambiguity in the matter, period.

Ha, nice. I think ACORN truly does help the less fortunate, but still, aiding and abetting underage prostitution is wrong, and the undercover conservative who made the original video clearly claimed that some of his "girls" are underage...so the actions by those ACORN employees is inexcusable.

To answer people's questions...Yes, South Park is libertarian propaganda, in the sense that they make fun of preachy Hollywood liberals and preachy Social conservatives equally. What's the problem with that? I'm a huge fan of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, but in no way, shape, or form would I describe those shows as "fair and balanced." They present the liberal view of things in a funny and thoughtful way through satire, but that doesn't change the fact that the shows are liberal propaganda.

Liberal Libertarians! What a concept! Soon there will be intelligent intellectuals and conservative conservationalists if our civilization doesn't collapse first.

I love South Park. This episode wasn't their best, but still pretty decent.

I think if you have to look into interviews to see what part of the political spectrum they are in, to decide whether or not you like their show is ridiculous.
Any full time watcher can tell you they rip on everyone, but if you see the world through your own political prism, and their opinion differs tfrom yours, well it must be libertarian propaganda, and only Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert tell the truth!

The part with the under cover cop was pretty funny, but unfortunately, Matt and Trey suck at political humor and the Acorn part was obvious and cheesy.

Southpark? lol yesterday's cartoon! Besides, lets be real now....Mormon episode..."oh they are just cuddly good family values folk." Serious? Have you ever been out to Utah? Breeding ground for bigots - I have to admit, I've met some very decent Mormon people, but Utah has this Southern tendency to breed bigotry.

Anyhow, lame cartoon.

1. If you have to admit you've met decent Mormons, then clearly the family wasn't implausible.
2. If you're focusing on the "cuddliness" of the Mormon family, you missed the entire point of the episode which spoke largely on the fairly ridiculous beginnings of the Mormon church.
3. I don't even know where to go. Did you actually have a comment about the episode this article is talking about? Because if you did, I missed it. I mean, "lame cartoon"? If that's the best you've got to offer then maybe you should just say it out loud in front of your computer.

Guarantee they will have a Balloon Boy episode soon. Which kid will be in it? Cartman's too heavy. Maybe little Ike. That it happened in Colorado is icing on the cake. Fort Collins might as well be South Park, as far as the rest of the country knows or cares.

This episode was hilarious. You guys complaining need to lighten up and understand that not everything has to be political. Sometimes it's just funny.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone are annoyingly smug libertarians. They are pretty proud of themselves for being funny and also NOT liberals. Such a thing exists. But we get it by now. It's starting to not be funny anymore.

South Park is goes after the most convenient and funny aspects of our society. Best episode to date is the one that was ripping on Terry Schiavo and the right to put people down while sending Kenny to Heaven to fight the Hords of hell because he was the best at playing a game on his psp. Enough said.

Maybe it's just me but I'm getting pretty sick of South park, even without the preachy stuff. It's just not exciting or fresh anymore.

Stone and Parker disgust me, as do all of the post-Lee Atwater "Rock and Roll" republicans. They know not from where they come.
Buttoned-down conservatives spent decades opposing Free Speech and the sort of social-entertainment revolution of risque and titillating humor. The stepping stones trod upon by Stone and Parker are varied.. Charlie Chapman, Lenny Bruce, Betty Page, Playboy.. all persecuted to some degree by conservatives, all the way to the recent political prosecution of Tommy Chong.. all of these people (and these sorts of things) built the stairs that Atwater and Parker and Stone climbed.

I was spinning the radio dial one day when a Pearl Jam song pops up.
Excellent, thought I.
But it turned out to be the bumper between commercials on the Laura Ingraham show!!!!!!!

Oh no!!!!!!!

There ought to be a law against conservatives listening to rock. After all, they used to call it devil music.

i have heard before that south park is anything but liberal in their views. they are indeed quite right wing/libertarian in their views and they like to rip on the liberals a lot in their show.

No, they don't do it well. They have no interest whatsoever in facts or jokes based on who's deserving and who's not. They just believe everything they hear, understand it only on the most shallow of levels, and write jokes about the easiest angle. This is much like the ignoramus sensationalists in the mainstream media and part of what's responsible for the current state of critical thought in our culture.
