The Monty Python Crew Takes Over 'Late Night'; Water-Fight, Chair-Stealing, General Tomfoolery Ensues (VIDEO)

The Monty Python boys are not easy interview subjects. They talk all at once, mock the audience and tell people they're asking terrible questions. Fortunately, their humor more than makes up for their lack of cooperation.

Last night John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Terry Gilliam appeared on "Late Night" to promote their upcoming documentary "Monty Python: Almost the Truth (the Lawyer's Cut)," a six hour history of the comedy group that will air in America on IFC starting this Sunday.

Fallon devoted (almost) the entire show to the troupe, who rewarded him by mocking his monologue and getting in water fights. But once the men settled down they shared the stories of their sketches and discussed the hiccups they faced while forming their legacy.

Dude, Jimmy Fallon is like a happy little kid with his favorite uncles. It's so cute! He may not be brilliant but at least he knows how to stay out of the way. And for that I can respect him.

I have exactly no opinion about Jimmy Fallon, but I would ask the commenters who feel compelled to diss him about this show: Who, exactly, would be the talk show host that wouldn't be a bit over-matched by 4 Pythoners at once? Even allowing for the fact that they wouldn't get into Chaucer because virtually no American talk-show viewers have any idea who that is.

What's with all the hate on Fallon? This was the funniest interview of anybody on any talk show I've ever seen, and Jimmy Fallon set the stage and let it happen. Fallon was great, but of course, Python is the greatest. That performance was straight-up comic genius python-style. I was bustin a gut watching.

Keep in mind that I'm pretty easy to amuse...

I actually really like Jimmy Fallon. When he was a memeber of SNL he seemed to ruin every sketch he was in. But, he didn't do it because he wasn't funny, neccessarily. He did it because he could never not laugh at a joke. Jimmy Fallon, to me, is live version of an outtake reel. And I really like outtake reels.

That being said, Monty Python is (are) brilliant. Obviously their humor is much more sophisticated and fine tuned than Mr. Fallon's, but I thought he did a pretty good job. I submit there are few people who could actually keep up with those four when they're actually trying to be funny.

Way to go Pythons. This crew deserves all the success they have had. This appearance proves that they still have what it takes to entertain. A real coup for Fallon, he was wise to let them take things wherever they led.

I'm visiting in UK right at now and cant see it. Of course I can't watch BBC in US either. I cant buy music from the UK itunes store from either country. I really think it's time to do away with international boundaries on ip licensing. They are becoming ridiculous artificial barriers.

Boy that is Zaney. Jimmy Fallon isn't funny. Ever. What boggles my mind is that. 9 times out of 10 HP blocks my remarks stating my dissatisfaction that this person is paid to be on television.
