If you happened to miss the whole story of Falcon Heene and the Runaway Wife Swap Zeppelin yesterday and don't have the time to run through my whole, link-rich exegesis on the matter, I can offer an even briefer take on the matter. Courtesy of DCist music editor and blogger Amanda Mattos comes a wonderful artist's rendering of "The Great Saga Of Falcon! The Balloon Boy!" That being said, what happens if you name your kid "Trig"?

Palin could write the book on child names for future math geniuses, of course she must aim a bit higher than Trig. Better to go with Calc, Chi-square, Risk, Discrete ANOVA, and of course Stochastic Process. The latter might also be used to caclulate the probablility of ancient predictions of Armageddon becoming a reality should Sarah Palin win the Presidential election in 2012. Yes, I'd definitely go with Stochastic Palin, could be Chastic for short nice ring to it and it fits. But then again, that may be a little too intellegentsia, too "gotcha", too above 8th grade math for her blue collar needs.

I spent Thursday transporting a stray dog I rescued earlier in the week to a no-kill animal shelter in St. Louis, about 300 miles roundtrip from my home in Missouri's bootheel.

Given poor radio transmission along the way, I was in a news blackout for at least five hours.

Apparently, as things turned out, the dog rescued me.
