A wax model of Adolf Hitler during the final days in the Fuehrer-Bunker is displayed at the Berlin Branch of Madame Tussauds in Berlin, Germany. A billboard advertising a new wax statue of Hitler in Thailand has been removed.

AFP:

BANGKOK (AFP) - A Thai waxworks museum has apologized and covered up a giant billboard of Adolf Hitler giving a Nazi salute after the Israeli and German embassies lodged complaints, its director said Sunday.

The billboard was one of four featuring pictures of famous dead people set up on a highway to the beach town of Pattaya, about an hour's drive southeast of Bangkok, to promote Louis Tussaud's Waxworks opening there next month.

I visited Madame Tussaud's in London several years ago. I asked a security guard which figures were the biggest attractions. He didn't hesitate: the Beatles and Hitler. And sure enough, the crowd around Hitler was three-deep. It appeared to be the only figure in the museum that was exhibited behind a plexiglass shield. I asked why. I was told that without such protection, the figure was regularly destroyed or defaced by visitors. Interesting how pure evil can be so attractive and revolting at the same time.

I never noticed before that Hitler's eyes were a dreamy shade of blue.

The German embassy is angry that the museum has a billboard of a former German leader? There is something very silly about this.

You can create a section of the cruelest most evil people in the world. And give a detailed information on the reasons. Put videos, photos to explain graphically. At least, this way, you can help increase the awareness.

Surely there was a better image of Uncle Adolf. He looks all angry and stuff in that picture. How about a nice smiling pic

While Hitler was an evil man, what people need to be doing is to explore how this man became so powerful in the first place. What led a few people to agree with his ideology? From what I've read he was brilliant in the beginning and brought Germany back from the greatest Depression they had. It lasted 8 yrs but Germans thought it would last over 30 yrs. I assume this first accomplishment fed his ego. To the people around him he must've appeared as a "saint" after that. Then more and more started following him. There's no way that I believe this man turned evil over night. I believe he was evil from the very beginning but hid it until he got enough power.

Scary when you think that so many gullible people followed his cult to HELL after helping him to murder millions of innocent Jews. We must know our history or its bound to be repeated. I'm quite sure there is another Hitler out there just waiting to gain a foothold.
