Roman Polanski

Dickipedia/HuffPost Comedy:

Roman Polanski is a Polish-French film director, producer, writer, actor, admitted rapist, fugitive, and a serious dick.

One of the more talented rapists of all time, Polanski is best known for films such as "Rosemary's Baby," "Chinatown," and "The Pianist."

In 1977, he was arrested in Los Angeles and pleaded guilty to unlawful intercourse with a minor. To avoid sentencing, Polanski fled to France, a nation that takes pride in its staggeringly high dick population density (one dick per 17 feet). There, he was protected by the country's limited extradition with the U.S. (France holds on to its dicks.)

His decision to avoid jail is not that dickish. In fact it's somewhat understandable, for if the convicted rapist went to prison, he would likely be on the losing end of a little "what's good for the the goose is good for the gander." What is dickish is that in the time since he's left the United States, Polanski has cultivated the image of a sympathetic victim who has been unfairly exiled from the U.S. That however, is not the case. He is not the victim. That title belongs to the 13-year-old he raped.

In September of 2009, Polanski was arrested by Swiss police while trying to enter Switzerland to pick up a lifetime achievement award from the Zurich Film Festival.

Oh, Polanski. Can't you just end this once and for all and come back to Hollywood...? Spend a year in jail, get to know your cell-mates, make a Doc about it, and then get back to making movies...

The only conclusion I can reach from that NY Times article is that if Polanski had not fled the country in the 70s, he would have gotten off with a lighter sentence than he now faces. I guess that's because the US justice system is now less prone to the type of black & white thinking that considered a rape victim's sexual history to be relevant.

Wait a minute as I recall the story the mother had the daughter made up to look like she was an adult and then drove the daughter over to his apartment to go after sex with him ,with the idea this was going to be their ticket to stardom. Polanski did not use the best of judgment and as I recall this was after the brutal and savage murders of his wife by then Mason whacks. He was heavily abuseing alcohol and drugs because of it, HE also comes from a culture where the sex laws are considerably different. Dont get me wrong I am not excusing the behavior but rape in the traditional sense no I dont think when you look at the facts.I dont think he had a clue that the penalties were as stiff as they were and when he really sobered up realized that he had been set up and that in this country there is no defense for statutory rape, he fled.Unless the girl still wants to press charges after what he went threw he deserves a pass. If she claims she was injured by him then I suppose he will have to serve some time. For those of you who dont remember his wifes murder was beyond horrific.

Oh, it definitely sounds like you're defending him to me. Any more reasons you can come up with to excuse this rapist's odious behaviour? Or have you exhausted your list? This was not just a case of statutory rape, btw. The girl was drugged, raped and sodomised. Hardly a case of consensual sex with a teenager which was rape by technicality. This was a brutal assault. Your idea that a man can be 'setup' by a pushy mom to drug and sodomize a young girl is truly obnoxious. No one made Polanski act like an animal. And to try and excuse his crime by telling us his wife was horrifically murdered is beyond crass. There are NO excuses for what he did.

What is the difference between writing like this, and what Rush Limbaugh does? It is boorish, stupid, and childish, and points to all the facts, motivations, twists, and faults of character that the author doesn't know and doesn't care to know. Polanski has lead a life of tragedy and error, much more interesting than this crap indicates.

Polanski's life has been "interesting"? And that makes him above the law? I think not. Polanski, and Limbaugh, are still both di*ks.

Polamski made a movie Cull de sack (spelling ?) - for me his best film. Yet that movie is never cited, referenced or available anywhere. Does anyone know why? Many thanks

AUM. AUM
WAZIRISTAN WAR : DEFEAT AND VICTORY
By Brigadier Chitranjan Sawant,VSM

The Waziristan war has reached a virtual stalemate so soon. The Pakistan Army is neither winning nor losing. Many a doubting Thomas surmises that the officers and soldiers are not going full steam ahead because they treat the Taliban terrorists as their kith and kin. I must hasten to add that this is one view of the battle scenario. The other view is that the Army is fighting its battles professionally and while they are killing the tribesmen, they are saving their own comrades-in-arms and pulling them out of the jaws of death. In any case the military situation is not clear to scribes too.

However, as someone much smarter than me once said. Justice delayed is justice denied.

The crime at this stage is about skipping bail and avoiding the prosecution. Should he have no consequences for refusing to give the victim her day in court?

I'm just gonna say this: apparently, the new grown victim would rather prosecutors drop the case against him so she can live a normal life, considering it's making her remember the incident. Seems like the prosecution is trying to make an example out of Polanski, is all I can say from what I know about the story.

Since when did the victim get to decide the punishment? That's not the way our judicial system works. Of course she'd like to forget about it rather than be hounded by the press. That doesn't mean that he should get off without any punishment. He's an example of just the way other celebrities believe they can escape the law because of artistic talent. Have we forgotten that she was thirteen? That he pled guilty in exchange for having some of the charges dropped? He's had a luxurious life style while she has gone on with her life as best she could. I don't think he ever paid her what he promised in the civil suit.

Yes, the prosecution is trying to make an example of him. I'll explain it to you. United States society disapproves of adult men drugging and sodomizing 13-year-old girls. So, it is in our society's interest that men who do so be prosecuted. If, to avoid a more serious charge, a man pleads guilty to sex with a 13-year old girl (also known as "statutory rape"), in the United States he is expected to accept the punishment meted out by the court. If, on the other hand, he runs away to escape punishment, he must be caught, brought back, and forced to accept it. That may differ in other societies, such as France and Hollywood, but as a then-resident of the United States, Polanksi agreed to be bound by our laws.

Well said. One can sympathise with the victim's wish not to have all this raked up again, but just because she has had the courage to move on and not let this animal's brutal assault mess up her entire life does not mean that he should get away with his crimes.
