Michele Brown: Christie Aide Who Got Loan May Have Helped Chris Christie Campaign For NJ Governor

Christie

New York Times:

When news broke in August that the former United States attorney, Christopher J. Christie, had lent $46,000 to a top aide in the federal prosecutor's office, he said he was merely helping a friend in need. He also said the aide, Michele Brown, had done nothing to help his gubernatorial campaign.

But interviews with federal law enforcement officials suggest that Ms. Brown used her position in two significant and possibly improper ways to try to aid Mr. Christie in his run for governor.

Cindy McCain would have been a great daughter to represent her fathers administration. Especially after she appeared on the cover of a major magazine with her breasts out. Really does do alot for the family image doesn't it?

Wait, I saw on one of Corzines ads that said "reading and math scores went up when he was governor". Gee, that'll get my vote! Wonder what happened to Social Studies, History, Geography etc. scores?

Interesting question - but not easily answered - they probably were referencing the "New Jersey Assessment of Knowledge and Skills" (NJ ASK) standardized testing which does not break-out Social Studies, History, Geography, etc. as individual scores.

Thanks, I'll research that before the election---I just get frustrated with both sides here when the TV ads start. Well, not only here in Jersey.

Are we supposed to read between the lines and assume that Chris Christie and Michele Brown have been having an affair? It would possibly cast a different light on why he lent her $46,000....

This guy just gets more interesting every day.

Who would want someone like this as governor?

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:18 AM on 10/20/2009

Come on NJ - do NOT vote this guy in. I have friends who have worked with Christie and they all CAN'T STAND HIM!!!!! Do not buy what he is selling. I watched the debate the other day, he offered NO PLANS. The state is broke but he is going to cut property taxes and other taxes, restore rebates... How do you all expect to pay for things? And he is going to get rid of corruption... he is corrupt himself.

So who do we vote for? This is the dilemma facing many in NJ, including democrats. Can you say with any ounce of honesty that Corzine has been even a halfway decent governor? Corzine and Christie are racing each other to the top prize for slimiest NJ politician. This is why even The Star Ledger had to an endorse an independent candidate which I believe is a first.

I feel for you weebils...I can't say that my Governor is any better than Corzine... I had Spitzer and now, Patterson... But I believe that it is the lesser of two evils here. I think that you are better off with Corzine than Christie. I have have heard the WORST things about Christie. And these are people inside his working circle.

Obama is coming to NJ this week to stump for Corzine and Biden did yesterday. I am not sure what that is worth...

The winner is ....................Jon Corzine. If there is one single person in NJ who honestly believes that Christie is going to do anything that can make NJ worth anything. Buy that bridge in Brooklyn. This guy prosecuted politicians that have done less than he has. How can anyone forget that.

Christie would be the ultimate disaster - a purely opportunistic, self indulgent, pawn of the political right who is completely devoid of a moral compass. Cristie has demonstrated that he is fundamentally clueless on the financial front - which means that he would simply follow the instructions of the GOP power brokers - in the same way that Christie Whitman did - and take a very difficult situation and make it monumentally worse.

It's the Bush administration all over again. Corzine doesn't even take a salary and uses his own money when traveling. Think Christie would do that? Not a chance.

Corzine can give up his salary only because he makes much more by boosting his wallstreet buddies with money siphoned from the state pension. Even during the height of the meltdown he was busted using public funds to help his hedgefund friends. Also, Corzine has engaged in practices of hiding public information that would make Cheney proud. Even my support of Obama and history of voting for a democrat in NJ is making it hard for me to vote for Corzine. It is the democratic party's ignoring of corruption and problems that put them in this position. It is time we cleaned our own house and stop excusing such behavior.

Corzine and Chrities are both repulsive. Many democrats and liberals are still undecided as to whether they can hold their nose and vote for Corzine. This will be a close election and the big reason will be Corzines's unwillingness to rein in the rampant corruption of the democrats in NJ. The NY Times endorsed him only because he raided the NJ pension funds to help out wallstreet. He is a Goldman Sachs man to the core. This is the worst choice of candidates I have ever seen in NJ and it speaks to how low the politicians in NJ have sunk.

I agree and neither democrats or republicans are worthy of our votes. Both sides in this state are horrible. Only those living in NJ know how rotten the stench is from Trenton.

Sounds like good old sleazy NJ politics to me - Christie is a throw back and we don't need his wheeling, dealing, backroom stealing, especially now. He makes big claims about cutting waste yet feels free to spend tax payer money lavishly and doesn't identify exactly where his cuts are going to be. Anybody can do that. The fact that Brown chose to oversee Corzines requests for information stinks. The fact Christie loaned her money stinks. The guy just stinks.

This story is going to float to the top in a big way. Brown obviously is trying to hide something. If in fact she took over the response information to the Corzine camp, we already know all we need to. Always wondered exactly what went on in those BACK ROOMS. If Christie wanted to help a friend in need, so did Sharpe James.

I would be a lot more interested in knowing where and how both major canidates plan in detail where they would cut state spending and cut/raise taxes. Of course, they don't want to tick off certain voting groups and lose their votes so they keep bashing each other over minor issues.
