The same banks that funded their campaign, I imagine.

The very same banks who now seem reluctant to donate to Democrats according the NYT today http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/20/us/politics/20donate.html?_r=1&hp

Did Rahm Emanuel adopt a populist anti-bank discourse to prompt their generosity?

"Obama AIdes Stand Up to Big Banks" What a bunch of hogwash. Every appointee and representative has their hand in the cookie jar. It is dis-gusting. Have they no shame?

Where's the interviewer who has the cajones to ask Rahm_ what he did to earn his $16million in his 2 year stint with an investment house (reader - take a look at your 401K) while sitting on the FreddieMac Board.

There ought to be a new word to describe these pols-of-prey.

Nice note - and link.

But it seems, to me anyway, that HuffPo has lately run more stuff about "problems real people face". Mightn't this piece qualify?

The banks don't deserve a choice when it comes to regulation! They've proven themselves to be either ignoramuses, greed mongers or both. Did Roosevelt ask their permission before tying their grasping hands with regulation? No. Asking bankers' permission to regulate them is like asking a teenager's permission to ground him after he's gotten drunk and burned down the house.

We need less sensationalism and more reporting about the problems real people face on a day by day basis. There's a lot of angry & scared people who have lost jobs, house, and sanity.

good articles; http://ow.ly/dmzm

Need more change from Obama

Please understand the function of our government system. There are three branches of government that equally have power that is to be balanced and separate. The President does not have all encompassing imposing power for he must cooperate with the other powers that be. He can not rewrite the Constitution or legislate laws. He must work in conjunction and agreement with the other branches of government when warranted. Congress is the one that write laws. They are group of individuals that represents the interest of their perspective states and must also work among themselves to bring about change. NO PRESIDENT...is able to singlehandedly bring about change without the help from the other branches of government that plays a significant role in whether the change sought will succeed. The judicial branches also has a role in that the changes sought should not interfere with the Constitution and each branch has it role indirectly and some outright directly. It just gets to me how many act as if they do not respect or appreciate how our government function and then they go all out to attack the President...when he does not have the kind of power they envision him of possessing. He is apart of the check and balance of power...not the ultimate holder.

I am absolutely, positively sure that the banks are going to listen to their Words. (Not)

The Bush Administration - Paulson, Bernanke and Geithner - gave money to the banks without any restrictions or strings. Of course, Paulson was the leader of Goldman Sachs.

The Obama Administration - Geithner, Bernanke and Summers - gave money to the banks without any restrictions or strings.

Banks are amoral institutions run by men who believe that they have a responsibility to make money for their organizations to the limit of the law.

The Bush and the Obama Administrations failed to do their duty to protect the American public. The Bush and Obama Administrations gave taxpayer money and, so far, have not been able to enact any rules controlling bad banker behavior. In comparison, FDR had implemented such regulations within the first 100 days in office (later repealed with the sponsorship of Summers). Senate and Congress have not had any hearings on the subject. We have still to learn why American politicians would give money to banks with no strings - and receive massive donations at the same time.
