Rachel Maddow

True/Slant:

...[It's] time for MTP to make another change. It's not about the guy who replaces the legend, it's about the guy who replaces the guy who replaces the legend. He (or she) is the one that really has a shot. A chance to step out of the shadow, to be their own host, to make the show in their image, not as a reflection of the great one who came before them. And that person is Rachel Maddow.

If you're familiar with her work on MSNBC, then you know what I'm talking about.

I said that from day one before they chose Gregory but MSNBC didn't listen to poor little old me! She would be PERFECT for that job because she's got the RIGHT STUFF!

WAKE UP MSNBC if you want to save MTP!

MTP was a must see Sunday morning show. It was the most in-depth unbiased hard hitting questions. People came in prepared to talk policy and not sound bytes. It was absolutely great and Tim is absolutely missed.

Tim's replacement is absolutely HORRIBLE!! I rather watch ABC with George which is also difficult to watch. Replacing Gregory with Rachel would be a amazing. Imagine a Sunday morning with thoroughly researched questions and persistence follow up questions to get to the heart of the policy debate. Imagine how the health care debate would have turned out.....

NBC make the change and take a RISK!

Bravo, someone has finally said it, Rachel is the one, have not watched MTP since Mr. Russerts death, would watch again if Maddow were the host. She reminds me of Mr. Russert, he was always prepared, and none partisian, he asked follow up questions, and was tough interviewer. Rachel has all these attributes in abundance.

From your mouth to MSNBC's ears, I hope. She's the ONE!

Well done, Truth/Slant for stating the blindingly obvious! All your journalist had to do was check out the comments here on HP to see how Rachel is seen as one of the best of the few serious commentators/interviewers/mediators in the Media these days. Not rocket science. As I've already mentioned in earlir blogs, The current incumbent is great as a political anchor, but as a moderator who can bring political balance to MTP, he just doesn't have it. He's listed over to Starboard a bit too much.

I love Rachel Maddow. This was a great interview. She is a true journalist and comes prepared with the facts and not just sound bites.

I would like to see her take on some of the Democrats, such as Harry Reid and Baucus along with some of Obama's staffers etc. The Federal Reserve would be another one. I would like to hear more hard interviews regarding cap and trade and how it will be used and monitored for accountability. I'm unconvinced.

Rachel should be on regular TV, so that everyone can watch and become more educated on issues, legislation, politics, finance, war funding...........America needs, wants and is craving for honesty, integrity and accountability from our elected officials in Washington, AND from the media who are suppose to report uncensored and unbiased news.

Yes, instead of just plain old "politics" like Chris Matthews loves. I'm glad they didn't give him the MTP slot either. But gregory is the total pits I must say. I tried to look at it this past week with Rachel on but he didn't give her enough time to say much of anything. All he wanted to hear were those same ole rightwing boring talking heads saying the same ole nothings so I switched the channel real quick.

Rachel has the ability to tell some of these disreputable characters that she interviews, that she thinks they are contemptible dog doo, and they think they've been complimented.

I just love her, I really, really do.

I agree she will be a brilliant choice. Another excellent choice will be Lawrence O'donell.

I love Maddow and would like to see the move. This is prime-time and her exposure to the world would be a gift of integrity to the profession on journalism.

Interesting plan but we still won't get coverage of Palestine from her. She has never been interested in covering the Middle East objectively. She invariably tacks toward Tel Aviv.

Brian Donovan: "David Gregory was a safe choice to replace Russert; he’s got credibility as a reporter, a bit of sense of humor, heck, he’s even pretty good-looking."
Boy that last line, "he's even pretty good-looking", boy, i have to LMAO at such image, we all know Brian is trying to be nice! But Rachel Maddow is amazingly good; i haven't watch MTP since the day Tim Russ pass away; but if i knew that Rachel Maddow is the next host to be on, i wouldn't miss a day!

Like a lot of you, I think she'd be much better than David Gregory but I would rather watch her five nights a week than once. So how about Lawrence O'Donnell?

Lawrence if good too now, but Rachel can still do her nightly shows and one weekend special. What's wrong with that? It's MO MONEY and MO PRESTIGE. But I lme ove Lawrence also. I've been waiting for MSNBC to give him a show. He needs a nighttime gig though and not one of those daytime run-your-mouth shows in the afternoon. Because I swear when David and Tamara comes on, I feel like I'm at the races. Tamara talks way too fast for me! David is always smooth but somebody needs to talk to Tamara. It's not all about the speed, it's about the story, if you can hear it through all that yabba dabba doo!

I think that Rachel is the most adept and incisive interlocutor in the MSM today.
The sooner she is handed the reins of MTP, the better.

It's a shame that we have to HUNT for a reporter/journalist who is truthful! Rachel would be a good pick but then who would replace her?

Now Lawrence would be good in that spot to replace her every now and then, but not permanently because I want to see more than just one day a week.
