Whitney Houston can't catch a break. Her voice repeatedly cracked at her first comeback performance in New York last month (she blamed Oprah), and her appearance on the British reality television show 'X Factor' Saturday night was marked by a wardrobe malfunction.

Around 2:20 the strap on the back of Whitney's silver dress breaks. She notices around 2:30, looks momentarily disconcerted and continues her performance of 'Million Dollar Bill' unfazed. "I sang myself out of my clothes," she tells host Dermot O'Leary afterward.

Whitney looks like she was either high, or brain damaged. 4:49

Bobby Brown was kryptonite for her career

I hope a whole lotta people check out this video clip -- not for the wadrobe malfunction -- but for Whitney's soaring performance! THIS is the comeback so many people have been waiting for! I'm a bit disappointed in the new CD, but this slam of "Million Dollar Bill" knocks it outta the park! Yes, the dress is all wrong, a mess, etc., but oh, that voice, attitude, and stunning delivery are BACK! When she is on her game, this woman is peerless!!! BRAVA! BRAVA! BRAVA!

She was blessed with a gift from God and became one of the premier vocalists of her time. Then she ignored the gift and ruined her life and others and spent all the money on the drugs and God took the gift back.

I'm sorry but when you squander that much blessing your due for some hardship. Good luck, you'll need it. Or you can join the millions of others who can't sing either and get a job.

I have a close friend who did drugs and is working very hard to stay off of them. Its been 6 months clean for them and I've seen them go through some hell. They dont have the millions of dollars Whitney has, and will never have fame to bank on. Just a few friends who stick by. My friend deserves more blessing than Whitney.

Who are YOU to say who is more or less deserving of a blessing?!?! If you really want to go there, perhaps you should remember that we ALL sin (including you) and fall short of His glory. That said, it seems your real problem is jealousy :

" . . . you can join the millions of others who can't sing either and get a job . . . They dont have the millions of dollars Whitney has, and will never have fame to bank on . . . My friend deserves more blessing than Whitney."

You've got nerve . . .

I am jealous of her ability to earn and buy her way out of trouble over and above my friend who is struggling. I'm not materialistic. I do have nerve because someone has to set the record straight. Either we hold our icons to high standards or we jump in the pig pen with them. Sounds like your willing to wallow in the pigpen with your icon. With that philosophy all of our icons will be drug infused immoral self absorbed narcissists.....oh wait ....thats kinda what we have now...........I think we know now where they came from.

No one deserves more blessing than anyone else. Worling with special ed. kids for 22 years there one thing I learned, very bright bright, and or talented people, are often the most deeply disturbed. Just because one has money does not make them sane.

Whitney Houston was born with phenomenal talent and beauty, and, as her Aunt Dionne Warwick said, she earned every inch of her fame. Now she has also proven to us that she has backbone and determination when faced with a seemingly impossible situation. I know what it's like first-hand to love someone who wasn't good to me. To leave the relationship was the most difficult choice of my lifetime.
I admire Whitney even more than I did before, now that she walked away from a bad relationship. It's easy to criticize if you've never been there.

Bad dress. Too long, too tight. An accident w8ing2happen. She shoulda shown some leg. They are probably in FINE shape. As for her disposition, she's likely under enormous stress and yeah, she looks a little twisted.

She should try leather and jeans. Long gowns always get you in trouble, you can trip on them coming down stairs.

Lady has a wonderful voice and great stage presence.

I'm not sure how professional it is to have no clue when your CD is being released.

Let's stop the Whitney bashing, shall we? The woman has a voice that few could ever match, and she still has it, regardless of the detractors and the naysayers...Whitney, you are the real deal...now and always...love you!

Agree with FHTB 100%. I love Whitney more than ever, and she was always my favorite singer anyway!

Whitney has a signature voice that will span the decades and I predict will continue to evolve for years to come. Her "I look to you is one of the most personal and emotional pop/gospel songs of the year. And Alicia Keys "Million Dollar Bill" is one of the most invigorating and catchy songs she has ever put her vocals to.

Her studio production of the new album has brought out the new husky maturity in her voice to perfect advantage. She has the drive, energy and inspiration to preform indefinitely. The unfortunate up hill battle has been her live versions. The damage done to her lungs cannot be denied.

Many artists who have battled drug abuse can continue to work and modify their artistry no matter how diminished their instrument. See Billie Holiday's profound last album 'Lady in Satin'. Artists that experience despair often as I think is the case here infuse the music with a depth and pain not previously displayed in earlier work. She has hopefully caught the downward spiral in time to put out her most personal and affecting work.

I hope she caught the "downward spiral" in enough time as well. I love Whitney's music as well as a good "comeback" story. I wish her well! So much hate for Whitney, i don't get it. It's like we love 2 watch others fail.

"So much hate for Whitney" Isn't it interesting? Especially it coming mostly from women. They can be an evil bunch of witches.

I love Whitney and wish her all the best but she either needs to stop doing performances for now and focus on working with a voice coach or quit singing altogether. This performance was sad, just like the one in Central Park and it mars the memories we have of her great performances. She needs more time off to heal, prepare and then make a real comeback.

It was the best she's got and you know what? I would pay to see her. She's the last of her kind....regardless of what happened in the past 10 years. She just needs to get back in the groove or recording and touring.
