Thousands of refugees fled fighting between Pakistani soldiers and Taliban militants in South Waziristan Tuesday, raising fears of a humanitarian crisis compounded by dangerous conditions and the onset of winter weather.

Aid agencies said there were as many as 150,000 refugees already, and the number could rise to 250,000 in coming weeks as the fighting intensifies.

Where is the President of Pakistan?
We don't hear anything from anyone in the government - where are they?

The Taliban certainly had some idea that an offensive was coming, but I don't think they expected so many casualties. Perhaps the U.S. had underestimated the Pakistani army in the statements reported in this video: http://bit.ly/2uCWDj

The suffering refugees are the true pawns in this border conflict. They can either thank the Taliban or fight them!

You better believe there is a refugee crises. Whenever totalitarian terrorists attempt to overthrow a regime, the civilians are expendable. Using schools, government buildings, homes, and religious institutions as bases to fight the military they are seeking to kill, these "insurgents" hope for enough civilians to die that the story will not be about the murderous regime they are trying to set up, it will be about the dead civilians. And you can pity the poor civilians living in areas under Taliban rule----especially the women.

This is the sad part. The moment the PTT started up again, I knew the Pakistani Army would have to respond, ergo, another IDP crisis. In fact, I think the Taliban was counting on it.
