The Colorado Department of Labor And Employment released a report Wednesday showing that the unemployment rate in the state had dropped to 7.0%, down for the second month in a row.

The Denver Business Journal reports that the unemployment rate in Colorado is now as low as is has been since January 2009, and quotes Department of Labor and Unemployment Executive Director Donald mares as saying "the worse is behind us here in Colorado."

The AP reports that the unemployment rate nationally was 9.8% nationally in September, the highest single-month rate since 1983.
