Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Highlights Salt & Light, Illinois Nonprofit
This Sunday's episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition follows the Montgomery's, a generous family who devote much of their time to delivering canned food, clothing and furniture to needy families in Champaign County, Illinois.
Nathan Montgomery left a comfortable engineering job at Alloy Casting to start Salt & Light Ministry, an organization which relies completely on donations to provide goods and supplies to those in need.
The nonprofit's role on the show corresponds with the Entertainment Industry Foundation's iParticipate week, in which dozens of network shows have focused plotlines around public service. The Extreme Makeover team will help expand and refurbish the organization's office to help them better provide for a growing community.

Salt & Light has posted a brief response to the episode on their website, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and discussion how the organization will continue to contribute to the local community going forward:
Everything that was done for Salt & Light during that week was a tremendous blessing, and we can never thank everyone enough for their involvement. Probably the more lasting effect, though, is the awareness that was created in our community about the work that we do, and the ways in which people can partner with us in that work. We could have spent decades laboring in our neighborhoods and still not created the level of awareness that now exists as the product of one extraordinary week. For this increased exposure we are forever grateful!
