"The average late-night viewer is in their mid-50s and the average viewer of TBS is in their 30s and is largely African-American and Hispanic, already, before I even get there," he says.

George Lopez is not a funny guy, and I much preferred his jokes when they were told by Carlos Mencia.

He USED to be.
I was recently watching his stand up special on HBO. In it, he called on the Latino community to adopt a no tolerance policy regarding negative stereotyping, i.e., to boycott companies and people that usurp latino traditions in insulting ways. He cited several examples, but labeled them as "gay." I followed his lead on that and immediately changed the channel.
George Lopez is racist.
He's talking demographics and how his numbers show that he's held on to a good part of the Latino audience. That doesn't make the man a "racist." It makes him a well informed businessman and entertainer, so stop throwing stones.
His "comedy" depends on more than a few negative stereotypes of many different races. Come on comedians! If your "humor" depends on perpetuating broad cliches about ethnicities, you're doing humor that was outdated 30 years ago. Get with the program, or get out of the limelight.
I would never have thought that until I caught a "comedy" special he taped. At first we chuckled, then we gasped, then we changed the channel.
We won't be watching his new show.
